Galaxy Quest is a superb movie, but I do think that unless you've ever gone to a sci-fi convention and had a good time, you won't quite get it. I went to see it with three friends, one of which while not as big a nerd as me was a huge Star Trek fan who spent her teens madly in love with Will Ryker. The two of us where in stitches throughout while the other two thought it was funny, but not that funny.

Three Amigos. Picked up Chevy Chase and Steve Martin at the very point before they got absolutely shite for me. I do like Galaxy Quest, it's underated imo and Sam Rockwell is excellent in it, but for pure nostalgia value, it has to be Three Amigos.

Incidentally, Tropic Thunder is the modern version/blatant rip-off of Three Amigos isn't it?

Easy now, I wouldn't go that far but Galaxy Quest is a surprisingly fine movie that took me unawares on some long distance flight somewhere.

Three Amigos is more juvenile, but none the worse for it. Less knowing, more laugh out loud funny. Bout equals I reckon.

I totally agree. When it came out I wanted to see it in the cinema, but none of my friends wanted to go with me
