dr jazz - at the risk of being accused of taking sides or being one of the editor's 'old mates protecting him' (i'm not, btw) or having some kind of playground mentality...

i have actually read most of each of the 9/11 threads on this site, i've even tried posting a polite and reasonable question on one. i've looked at all of the links provided, watched the videos, seen the pix and done some googling myself. i've been to the forums frequented by windsor (or chaliyah) of which there are many.

i am actually interested in unofficial versions of world events, i don't swallow govenrment versions or media interpretations hook, line and sinker. i consider myself a floating voter.

however, whilst doing all that browsing i haven't found a website that deals with 'conspiracy' subjects in a sane and serious way. many of the sites contain too many far-fetched claims, clearly deranged posters (like chaliyah), some very poor design and dodgy commercialism to retain my interest. i have been left with the impression that there is almost a 'conspiracy industry' out there, urging the reader to 'buy my book', 'join my cult', 'sign my petition' and 'humour my delusion'.

i would be interested in having a definitive list of worthwhile sites and forums that publish and debate the ideas, information and evidence seriously. that's not an invitation to post that on urban, btw, but for some time now i have wondered why yourself and like-minded 'conspiracy' advocates don't sit down and produce a 'portal site' that simply points to the information that you consider useful, serious and worthwhile rather than spending days here fighting the same battles over and over.

i think that it's clear that the editor does not want things to continue in the same vein with regard to 'conspiracy' threads and i happen to agree with his points about the possibility of damaging the urban75 site and community, so why not give up on that argument and try a different tack? you've clearly got a lot of passion for your topics, why not channel that energy into something more positive than this endless fight?

from my personal point of view, as a poster and human being and not as an admin/mod, if i were to see yourself make a considered attempt, outside urban, to rationalise and condense the huge amount of information and disinformation surrounding the 'conspiracy' topics then i would probably be more inclined to afford the subjects and posters more of my attention and less of my disdain.

better still, i'd like to be able to visit another board altogether for discussion on those topics. if you know of a good one.

tbh Dr j as one who has supported your right to say what you say and raise questions which has often put me at odds with mike and as i have said this to your face too, you need to let this go, really. Just drop it, behave like an adult and move on. it's not a childish game its not some kind of Faustian charade by which each post is a cunning piece of double bluff, attack defence etc it's not even some high calibre debate... it reduces both you and Mike (two eloquent and intelligent people) to the level of playground rivals it's pony.

as i have said before I'd be all for seeing both posters editor and Dr jazz banned from these threads for good to allow the rest of us to maybe discuss what happened with out the nuttier/nuttier hunter element coming into it. essentially not only has this spat which has been going on for the last year stopped all discussion on the threads it has happened on it has permanently prevented any form of discussion from happening about this on urban because it will now all be tarred with the same brush indeed i think that even if rumsfield bush and Chaney invaded the world tomorrow and confessed this had been their plan all along called up the mother ship and turned us all into slaves the quality of debate which has sprung forth from these threads would prevent any discussion of even that....

let it go. the fact you have an opinion which does not agree with everyone else doesn't make you right, it doesn't make you wrong but it doesn't give you the right to continue banging the one note gong in this fashion it is totally unproductive .... and makes all concerned the worse for seeing it.

if you note i haven't said forums i have said threads....

as for stirring things up no just pointing out whenever the topic or the comments become ones which you appear to not wish to answer or respond to as a poster you flick into mod mode and threat all in sundry with a ban. which is .... well it kinda makes allot of people who wish to debate on a thread you are on think twice about posting at all for fear of being threatened for making a point which contradicts something you might say and therefore has them booted. I'm not saying that you are not justified in doing so in a lot of cases merely that you throw as much flack as you receive often at anybody who makes a point you dispute in order for you to add weight to your own argument.

for instance you're are you stirring again assumes that all of my posts have been attempts to wind you up, or to cause further disruption on the thread which is a lie. i don't know whether this is because you feel that you are doing battle with people who you feel should not be questioning what you are saying or whether there is some other reason.

It would take a lot of the heat out of the situation if both the main protagonists though were removed in this case they are you and Dr Jazzz why is this call such a silly one, there have been poster thread bans before, it seems a whole lot simpler that taking the drastic action of threatening banning from the whole forum for on type of threads expelling some one from the community for having one set of ideas which you disagree or don't like. it used to be the way that if a poster didn't like a thread they didn't post on it, why is this not the case in these type of threads? why the feeling or the suggestion for the need to censor? I think Dr jazzz would admit he has been spectacularly wrong and that some of his theories about 9/11 are at least difficult to swallow. fairy nuff. I don't think that the threat of a ban resolves the issue, it merely smacks of I'm taking my ball home, a removal of the right to reply however silly or infantile that reply is.

You may feel that the boards en mass doesn't like these threads and in balance you may even be right, what is noticeable is that when talking to people in RL that an number of posters also feel that all who post on them do themselves no justice and indeed it brings allot of the worst out in many of the posters who partake.

Previously when i have suggested things you have taken this as me stirring things up or trying to tell you how to 'run a successful bulletin board' but it's not its a repeat of the same thing i have been saying all along which is to be less wound up by these threads as a whole as you rightly point out they aren't the majority of the threads which appear on urban and tbh theres a lot less on them than say half the rubbish or infighting flack fire and muck spreading as that which goes on in P&P.

Garfield, the whole issue of 9/11 threads has been done to death. Trying to suggest that the person whio actually runs these boards and has the final say on what is and is not allowed on urban75 is somehow banned from part of it is just a completely stupid suggestion, and I'd like to know why you are even suggesting it, if you aren't trying to piss that person off? Personally if I run a website/forum and someone said something like that I know what I would do. The fact is that there are plenty of twats who contribute nothing to urban75's existence who are allowed to run around these boards slagging off all sorts of stuff, and it is tolerated. It is nice that there is tolerance of idiots, but I wish the idiots would just grow up, and if they thought they could do better, I wish they actually went away and set up a forum or website themselves. It is not very hard. The last forum I joined is actually run by a 15-year-old who has recruited a whole bunch of people by word of mouth, and displays a lot more maturity than many of the self-styled 'experts' and 'professional critics' here.
