Those moments in films that stick in the mind

That bit in Bladerunner when Harrisons been slapped silly, then his assailant slams him onto a car bonnet, and smacks him out of unconciosness
"wake up! time to die"

That and Woodies lines from Nautural Born Killers

" so I'm just running like always, Mr.Rabbit. Paper hat. Bloody fangs. Mr. Rabbit say's a moment of realisation is worth a thousand dreams"

"Arise. Arise, riders of Theoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered. A sword day... a red day... ere the sun rises! Ride now! Ride now! Ride for ruin, and the world's ending!"

That is a good bit, I would also add the Bridge of Kazadh-Dum, which is arguably the greatest ever representation of a literary moment on screen.

Plus the bit where Theoden laments "Where is the horse and the rider, where is the horn that was blowing, they have passed like rain on the mountain, like wind in the meadow. They days have gone down on the west, behind the hills into shadow. How did it come to this" as the Orks march on Helms Deep.

Plus:

The closing moments of Shawshank Redemption (I hope the pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope...)

The end of Truman Show where he bumps into the wall and realises it was all fake

The hotel room shootout in True Romance

The bit in Pan's Labyrinth where the weird monster chases her up the corridor (this has stuck in my mind as I just watched it the other day)

These were the scenes that I immediately thought of when I saw the thread title

Almost all of "Duel" directed by Steven Spielberg sticks in my mind, you never saw the truck driver but you sensed the menace throughout the film.

Great film omho.

Oh in the French film Delicatessent at the start when the terrified man is hiding from the butcher in a rubbish bin, actually there are lots of moments from that film, great film, anyone here seen it?

The 'sex scene' with the stringed instrument and squeeky bedsprings is great.

The horror scenes in The Grudge are awesome

Where she hides under the bedcovers and the...er..woman/ghost/thing is suddenly under the covers with her. This scene is really special because it violates the one area where people feel safe from ghosts and spooks - under the covers at night. Hear a sound at night and cover up...but not if you've just watched The Grudge! (Original much better than the US remake of course)

The last in memorian scene i can remember is in 'The Garden State'

'You gotta hear this one song, it'll change your life I swear.' - and New Slang from The Shins start.

The shot of the railway track leading to the gates in Auschwitz in Schindler's List. I've actually been to Auschwitz so it makes the scene stand out even more.

In the English Patient Ralph Fiennes carries a dead Kristin Scott Thomas across a ledge in the middle of the desert with her long white scarf billowing in the background. Rather beautiful contrasts I thought.

By pure coincidence, I recently came across the Anglo-Saxon poem that has to have been the inspiration for that scene:

"Where has gone the steed? Where has gone the man? Where has gone the giver of treasure? Where has gone the pleasures of the hall? Truly, that time has passed away, has grown dark under the helm of night as though it had never been..."

It may not be an all time great in Movie terms, but this scene was most definitely memorable & I play the Tito & Tarantula album that has the track on all the time ................... "Now thats what I call a fucking show !!!!"

The Postman always knocks twice, the scene in the kitchen across the table with Jack Nicholson and jessica Lange. ....getting it together

From Pulp Fiction:
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Bang....

From Apocalypse Now;

Chef: Why do all you guys sit on your helmets?
Soldier: So we don't get our balls blown off.

We train young men to drop fire on people. But their commanders won't allow them to write "fuck" on their airplanes because it's obscene!

But, Clerks ll:

Randal Graves: That look was so gay, I thought Sam was gonna tell the little Hobbits to go for a walk so he could saunter over to Frodo and suck his fucking cock. Now *that* would have been an Academy Award-worthy ending.
Hobbit Lover: Hey, faggot! They're not gay. They're hobbits.

andal Graves: [describing the Lord of the Rings Trilogy] Here's the first movie.
[walks a few steps, staring blankly]
Randal Graves: And here's the second movie.
[walks a few steps again, pretends to trip]
Hobbit Lover: He is way off, loser.
Randal Graves: You ready for the third movie?
[walks yet again, stops, pretends to throw the ring into the volcano. Shrugs his shoulders and turns around]

E2a: Cool man has the clip. Genius.

Huraaaaayyyy! This scene still reduces me to tears of boyish laughter, much to the added amusement of the family around me. Top call which I can't better...
How rich to find that such a brill comedic team can pull off such a classically silent routine... Great movie the bit with the radio in this scene is tres funny too...

Lord of the Rings again: That bit where all the beacons are lit between Minas Tirith and Rohan. Blew me away in the cinema. Who knew a bit of scenery and some CGI fires could be so exciting?

Rockys speech at the end of RockyIV.
if you can change.. and i can change.. .. .. EVERYBODY CAN CHANGE!!

Gary Oldmans bit in Leon always sticks in my head too. get me EVERYBODY
