For the '70s, see a hybrid of Pink Floyd and The Clash for the closest comparison.

A hybrid of Pink Floyd and the Clash? I think I'd rather pour salt in my eyes than see the Clash Floydified...

Some of Yorke's lyrics are fucking amazing.
My favourite? The none-more-sneering 'No surprises'

"Such a pretty house and
Such a pretty garden

No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises please"

Awesome!

they really ought to get an alarm if the house is that nice....

the quoted lyrics aren't that great really.....

In that case, how about this alternative extract:

"A heart that's full up like a landfill
A job that slowly kills you
Bruises that won't heal
You look so tired-unhappy
Bring down the government
They don't speak for us
I'll take a quiet life
A handshake of carbon monoxide"

That resonates with me, that does.

that's a much better example, 5 house points and a "well done" sticker :)

but I may take them away again cos you didn't laugh at my shoddy joke

It's all about context and tone, m'lad.

quite correct - good point editor 10 house points and a "well done" sticker

i think i was delving into the murkier waters of lyrics not always standing up in print, but sounding amazing in song

my top radiohead bits.....

- my wife went to the pub with them to celebrate them getting signed
- i made a mint from selling his art degree show program booklet on ebay
- other repetitive stories of knowing someone who knows someone but including quite a good one of a row at a party ending with a stormout and ending with "you think you're so special" being shouted

Really? Was that at the Jericho Tavern in 1991, the time they legendarily went their separate ways afterwards in a brewing thunderstorm and lost track of each other for ages?

I have their demo they did if you want it, same sort of thing they did for the BBC Evening Session in 1992, also got their Tut's Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow, gig which was 1992 I think

If it is rare. Unreleased. And by Radiohead, I own it! :)

Anyone want to hear Nude? I also have a very very early version of some stuff from Kid A from 1995 (and the first demo of No Surprises).

Is that from the early sessions that were released on ateaseweb a few months back? :) They were on there so briefly that by the time I even heard about them they'd been taken off! :(

I'm definitely interested in the demo stuff - any chance you can do us a CD copy? :)

Yeah, PM me your address - may take me a week or two as I'm shit at organising things :D

I'm not sure about Atease, I don't go there 'cos the cnut used to steal my news articles and post them on his site, besides he's in it for the money.
