This Week (the politics show on after Question Time)

Well that was weird, but also the roving reported dragging him along, and then having him in shot while he spoke.

It was bizzaro world.

Perhaps it was for levity, after all they were seemingly unable to stop mentioning Carol Thatcher every 5 minutes.

Abbot's giving Portillo some hot dildo action in the green room, hence the closeness.

Think about that for a second.

Diane Abbott, naked save for a 10" strap-on, buggering Portillo like his first day as a prefect's fag.

Because it makes me feel weirdy.

In my mind that's good enough reason to start a thread.:D

This may give me a clue as to why so many of my threads are failures....:hmm:

It made me laugh  Politicians are weirdos. They are deeply odd people. This should be pointed out more often :D

Very good show imo.

I presume they have such a small sofa for a couple of reasons; the BBC are obviously promoting them as a duo (Tweedledee and Tweedledum, etc) and want them in every shot together - you'll notice, for example, how your eyes drift to the facial reaction of the other when one voices an opinion. That's not the presentational convention and is implicitly promoting the notion of them as a pair. There's other stuff but . . . later.

How does anyone take anything Abbott says seriously?

She berated people for sending their kids to private school and then did it as soon as she could. She said Blair was rubbish and Gordon was great - now listening to her she thinks he's a loser.

He is. He's going to cost a lot of Labour MPs their jobs.

And she's one of the few Labour MPs who's prepared to talk (reasonably) openly about the mood on the backbenches. They'd been hoping that Brown could change everything after the horrors of Blair, and they've spent the best part of two years coming to terms with the truth - he's a loser.

The question is whether he's going to get dumped, and Abbott will be worth watching when the rumours start flying after the Euro-elections.

Diane Abbott and Michael Portillo went to school together didnt they? Harrow.

They went to respective single sex branches of Harrow state schools and met in a joint school play. Friends ever since through Oxbridge and politics together. I think that's a nice story.

Andrew Neil thinks he is so funny when he is not! NOT !

I like political shows but Andrew Neil makes me want to throw something at the TV!
Yeah, I don't think he's that funny either, and can't understand why gorgeous, intelligent women would find him attractive, as he doesn't seem to have that kind of charisma.

But I do like the Abbott and Portillo double act. I think it's good that people from different ends of the political spectrum can find redeeming qualities in one another and maintain a close friendship.

I find the way they flirt with one another highly amusing. It's good to see they have such great chemistry, the warmth of their respective characters does make better television than, say, some of the breakfast telly sofa double acts, for example, who try to effect a manufactured pally-ness that is cringe-worthy, I mean I'd much rather watch Diane and Michael than e.g. Dermot Murnaghan and Natasha Kaplinsky (they were paired up quite a while ago), I found the whole breakfast telly thing increasingly awful and ended up just sticking with listening to the Today programme instead of trying to watch something while eating breakfast.
