This old chestnut: Tori Vs Kate

Bush or Amos?

Tori manages to perfectly pin the nice line in self-obsession that the great unrequited love of my life played so well - so for that reason I love her and hate her at the same time.

"when you going to make up your mind? When you going to love you as much as I do?"

Yea, right. Give it a fucking rest etc.

Kate on the other hand is pure and batty. She came out of nowhere - I got that "Kick inside" the other day, not having listened to it for about 20 years... fucking genius, in a squeaky sort of way.

The only thing I can fault her on, is that she's the sort of thing that the people from The Good Life would be into. A bit middle-classed late 70s/early 80s.

No competition, Kate is in a league of her own. Tori quickly gets on my nerves after a few songs.

Agreed.

Although I must say Kate's long awaited last album was a real disappointment :(

I watched a Kate Bush interview a few nights ago, from around the time of Babushka. I think it's on youtube. She was incredibly articulate and entertaining whereas most musicians just mumble any old embarrassing monosyllabic shite. And her involvement with the comic strip was great too.

They shouldn't be compared as Kate Bush is in a totally different league.

I do like Tori Amos though and actually listen to her more as I can relate to her stuff more.

I'd guess something like Tori has written about deeply personal events in her life, such as being raped, whereas Kate sings about her washing machine :D

What?? The sense of honesty comes from the truth of the subject, no matter what is being discussed.

Just because its not about something painful, and its about something simple, doesnt make it any less honest
