This is how music criticism ought to be done

parjo<=================================================================================================================>parjo's understanding of eggsys posts.

Oh and of course saying you don't find something funny makes you a "dull moralising finger wagging bastard". Whereas banging on about your shitpot degree in media studies and the success rates vis a vis employment opportunities puts you right at the heart of cutting edge satire.

I don't have a degree in media studies you idiot. I was trying to make the point that you presented your opinion as fact and got annoyed when i challenged it. If you care enough about a, quite frankly, blatant attempt to get a rise to point out that something is not funny even though that is an OPINION and not a FACT I was merely suggesting that if you wish an opinion to become a fact perhaps you should put forward an argument. Hence my froth-mouthed tirade earlier. It's shuffling idiots like you who can't tell the difference between a point of view that you have and a semiotic law who encourage pillocks like the OP.

Div.

No, saying you don't find something funny is expressing an opinion.

Being a dull moralising finger wagging bastard (here: I'll tell you what, let's wait til someone close to you dies, preferably in a rather horrific freak incident, and we'll start a thread on it with a 'humourous' twist, and then you can decide), makes you a dull moralising finger wagging bastard.

And also a grief tourist, by the implication that the OP was somehow mocking the death of someone close to you.

Malcolm eggs you fucking prick, for someone who finds it such a crime to be offended by something, you seem pretty fucking offended by anyone who has the temerity to say they don't actually find this thread funny.

What, offended by someone who tries to tell me what is funny and what isn't? People like you who write spittle-flecked letters to the BBC being offended at stuff dictate what everyone else watches.

Shit OP, move on, nothing to see, plenty of other threads that might entertain you. Registering your moral disgust and pretending that the OP was personally mocking your grief just makes you a human fucking skittle.

I think you're missing the point of an internet forum tbh.

Yeah, good point actually. Allowed.

Is death ever funny gabi, or was OP always doomed to fail. With that sort of thread, i mean, he's clearly doomed to fail in life with a postcount like that.

'Allowed'? :D

Who the fuck do you think you are?

I'm sorry old bean, I didn't realise.

What I meant was I concede the point of debate to you, agreeing that telling someone on an internet discussion forum not to register their opinion on a thread, no matter how ill informed, was but me making myself propose a tautology... imagine, participating in an egotists ball and expecting not to hear opinions, I was a fool to no-one but myself etc.

I apologise if my young person's slang confused you.

Actually I never implied this (or if I did only as much as you implied you had a degree in media studies). My point was this; if you're gonna have a laugh about a 19 year old being eaten by dogs, you might consider what it would be like it the same fate befell someone close to you and how it would feel if someone started a humourous thread on it. It seems then this makes me a moralistic, self-righteous, humourless, reactionary, finger wagging, pc cunt. No need for the slew of posts confirming this - guilty as charged. ;)

Apology accepted :D

But unless you can point to the person here who is offended because they're close to the eaten, it's a spurious point you're making.

Actually, I'm going to strike out and suggest that parjo isn't related to the victim, as s/he mostly posts on British football threads and has never mentioned canada ever. I suspect in fact they are just the sort of person that thinks that anything that might upset anyone be banned. Except when the banning upsets people, because people who get upset when things are banned or censored are twats, obv.

Dull moralising finger wagging bastards. Jesus christ, when i don't find something funny or when i find something offensive i either keep my mouth shut, walk away, or try and explain why i find it so. I might, in this case have said that as an animal lover i think it's offensive because the coyote was shot. I might have said "don't laugh, my brother / cousin / friend died that way", or explained to the OP that music journalism is actually better these days and thus the attempt at a comparison is pretty weak, perhaps citing the pass rate on my BA Media Studies degrees and the lack of jobs in the field meaning that obviously only the best are doing it etc etc.

I'd hate to live in a world where I got offended everytime someone didn't act all pious in response to everything. you'd have to have every book or movie or song vetted by a friend in case there was something in it that might upset you, you'd be constantly having to point out to passers by that they might offend someone, you'd never be able to go to a pub or social gathering with people in case someone said something tasteless that ruined your day. and the only comedy show you could ever watch is Last Of The Summer Wine.

So we should all just acquiesce to things we dislike and not object?

That sounds like a recipe for mediocrity.

Basically, if i was a member of the person's family and i heard that some sadcase on the internet had made a joke about it, i'd just think what a cunt and get one with my grief. i wouldn't feel a bit better about having my mum eaten by badgers to know that somewhere on the other side of the world a loser on the internet was told off by another loser for making a joke.

but if the victim or a known member of the victim's family is a poster here then this clearly intended to offend and upset and should have been reported immediately as it would be nasty and personal.

every death is a tragedy, and if someone wants to laugh at it, let them. bluestreak and the, what, three people who laughed haven't exactly been spamming her facebook page with links to this site.

hey, maybe someone should do that, that would teach bluey a lesson.

Nah, just make an attempt at explaining why you dislike and object to it, take it to the OP's defenders, make them explain why they are defending a tasteless joke about the music industry rather than look like ted and dougal outside the cinema.

Is that the one involving Led Zeppelin? I thought they tried to make the dog more interested by using some strategically-placed fried bacon.

And I bet Shippy has that manga.

a red snapper and Vanilla Fudge's groups actually /boring old 'classic' rock journalism

Her music's really quite good - Shame really - acouple years time she could've been playing the Sheepwalk.

This thread never really delivered what I was hoping for. Clearly a case of WWS though.
