Cut out the announcement of the bus route altogether. We know which bus we're on - blind or otherwise. That's why we got on it.
So basically what you're saying is that every single organisation on this planet could be accused of being 'institutionally racist' ... thus meaning it is no different than any other, consequently completely nullifying the idea.

They're far too loud for my liking.I have already found the stop announcements incredibly useful, I think they're great.

They even have announcements that tell passengers "there are seats available on the upper deck". While this might be useful, it was repeated about 7 times before it shut up.

In their frustration, the person simply responds with profanity as they don't have anything else they can think of.
Deborah Orr (journalist, Stockwell resident and partner of Will Self) was banging on about them in the paper the other day - http://www.independent.co.uk/opinio...votes-just-because-of-your-gender-920820.html
"I beg of them not to launch an investigation ascertaining whether "institutional racism" exists on buses. My friend John has rooted it out already himself, and so have those thus discriminated against. There he was, literally on the Clapham omnibus, and all was well except for the annoying electronic voice that kept booming out the location of the next stop (and which we all have to remind ourselves must be useful to the blind).
Then the bus stopped at a school and a couple of black teenagers got on, perfectly quietly, and sat near my friend. Suddenly, the announcements changed and the voice started saying: "Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated, and miscreants may be banned from carrying bus passes." There were several other variations on the same theme.
"Goodness," he thought, "The driver's switched to that message just because those kids got on." At which point one boy, quite calmly, said to the other: "They change to those announcements when we get on, you know." What a miserable, shameful thing for an intelligent young person to understand about his place in the world. "

So you haven't seen job applications that say things like "preference will be given to ethnic minority candidates that are currently under-represented within our company"?
Have you seen this? http://www.ethnicjobsite.co.uk/ ... if there was a 'whites only job site', wouldn't there be outrage?
Brixton Hill's very own "http://www.ekaya.co.uk/" ... if there was a 'whites only housing association', wouldn't there be outrage?
We have the National Black Police Associaion - http://www.nationalbpa.com/ - where's the 'white police association'?
I could go on. But my point is clearly made. There is plenty of racism against white people, but fewer and fewer people want to admit it, and having suffered years of tossers like Red Ken in charge pushing everything for minorities at the expense of the rest of us is showing.
Those sort of responses don't bother me in the slightest. It only goes to prove that I am in fact right, and there is no valid, rational argument to try and disprove what I am trying to say.

Reckon I could do with that announcement on my regular bus route where the school kids congregate en masse round the staircase, entrance and exit, meaning that the bus often whizzes past my stop even though I can see plenty of room upstairs.
I sometimes wonder if they're even aware that the top deck exists![]()
A power, in this country, held most often by white people.
If people want to come to this country, then providing they meet all the requirements laid down by the government, then they should abide by our rules.
OK. Don't you also think they should have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else, one of which not feeling like a second class citizen?
This is Dr. Crusher.*pages Captain Picard*
Honestly, no I don't think they should. I can't think of any other country where immigrants get everything else handed to them straight away without any kind of qualifying period.
Why is that such a problem? Would you go to Iran and complain that majority of the power is held by Moslems?
If people want to come to this country, then providing they meet all the requirements laid down by the government, then they should abide by our rules. We shouldn't have to bend over backwards to accommodate their special requirements.
Look at the amount of money wasted on translation by the emergency services, local councils and schools for the growing immigrant population; it should be a basic requirement for anyone seeking to settle in this country that they have at least a basic understanding, if not fluency, of our native language.

I'm afraid the captain can't leave the sickbay due to critical forehead and palm abrasions.

Is this guy trolling or is he actually that much of a dick?
