this bunch of tories

As someone pointed out on the thread this spun off from, the current mode of capitalism has made traditional conservative thinking (be it 1nationism, paleo-cons or simply hewing to Burke's basic principles of conservatism) redundant, and they're clutching at straws for something that resembles a party philosophy as much as labour.

"...as much as labour are", surely?

As an aside, it is a shame that One Nationism does appear to be dead, it was the only thing that made much of that party likeable.

Yes, posters like 'Butchers bottom' do not seem to realise that those from different political backgrounds can say things which are accurate. Doh!

"Doh" indeed, for you at least, reducing yourself to fucking around with the usernames of posters.

We were in a post Tory political era in 1997! Dear me, you lot do take a long time to catch up. 'One Nationism' as the Tory philosophy was killed in the early 1970's...

Hmm, in 1993 I wrote in an undergrad essay while studying Burke that with the advent of neo-liberal economics in the 70s that any kind of pre-nl conservatism was dead in the water, as the demands of Capital wouldn't give two figs arses for either slow-change-and-keep-what's-good and ON variants of Tory philosophy nor would the traditional moral stances of Toryism, so hardly a long time to 'catch on', really just repeating things I said 15 years ago...
