Absolutely.

Two options:
a) you do it
b) you don't do it
If a), you might find it's not for you, but you'll have gone through some fab experiences while finding out. You'll learn some new stuff, even if you don't go all the way, and you'll be proud you took a chance and tried it.
Of course, you might find it very much is for you. In that case, you'll learn loads of stuff, including new skills, meet a bunch of new people, and feel this utterly amazing sense of self worth and excitement at doing something you love, you find interesting, and, just for doing something you want.
If b) all you get is that nagging feeling at the back of your mind that says, "what if?".

Don't you just love the adrenaline rush? Embrace the scared. Feel the scared. Experience the joy when you push past the scared.
