Thinking of Booking a Round the World Trip

i quite like musems too but the musems i could find there were below average at best. tourist information were useless as well. i went to ask about art gallerties and they basically said there weren't any. i think we're going to ahve to agree to disagre on the place. the airport is pretty good though - free and fast wireless.

I'm not much on art but if you happen to be there again try the police museum. Full of boys toys and large guns.
KL is a very handy place for an asian tour as it's Air Asia's hub so you can travel safely and cheaply all over the area.
If anyone is ever in central Java send me a PM and we can pop out for lunch somewhere. I know a few great restaurants here but the problem is you may find out that I'm not as big a bastard as you think. :D

I can see you like KL Derf, but there are far more cities in SE Asia I'd go to before that one. In fact, I'd go to Pnom Penh, Bangkok, Chang Mai, Vientiane, Luang Phabang, Saigon, Hanoi, Hog Kong, or Rangoon before I went to KL again. It is nicer than Singapore, though.

Hubbie and i are thinking of booking a round the world trip. Although this appears to be a bit of a milestone, we have discussed suitable destinations. We figure it would take a year to save up for this and i have been checking out lots of websites on the net. My favourite combination so far is ;

London Heathrow - Bangkok - Perth - Ayers Rock - Adelaide surface Sydney -Auckland - Fiji - Mexico City - UK (or vice versa)

I'm not sure how long to spend in each destination and was hoping to go away for a year.

Australia is a must :cool: and Thailand also, anyone got any tips advise they care to share?

Why no Africa or South America? They're far and away the best continents if you ask me.

Love the place and I will return when I need to do a visa run. Got a lot of mates there so I suppose that colours my opinion of the place.

Don't forget Indonesia. People tend to be fantastic here and some interesting places to visit.

Yeah, fair enough. Mates in a place does make it special.
Never been to Indonesia, although would love to.

why do peoples "round the world trips" always focus on Thailand, Australia, etc. Noone ever visists the north do they. Never hear people saying they went to Svalbard do you?

I've had little chance to travel far as when I returned my wife was pregnant so I didn't like to go too far then having a baby the same but now just starting to look around a little more. The more I see the more I love the place.

Sorry to say that Indonesia has a bad name that is undeserved. The people here are great with visitors offering a genuine welcome.

If anyone does want to pop over I'll be happy to posta few pointers.
Places to see and how much you should pay for things so you don't get ripped off too much. :)
