Things you only ever eat when you're camping

Just went to get diesel and bagged three 'Wot? Not in a Pot Noodles' for 90p  I'll be getting a few more of them, I think

I only eat barbequed halloumi kebabs when I'm camping - they're my camping treat. Along with pink champagne and a thermos flask of very strong Cosmopolitans :D

i hope you're not implying that you only drink pink fizz and strong cosmos when you're camping - cos that'd be bollocks.

In camping shops you can buy these 'sausage and bacon' and 'cottage pie' all-in-one bag things, for like hiking up Everest or whatever.
It's the same stuff as the organic bags called 'Look what we found' in Sainsbury's. Only Sainbury's is half the price.
We are taking 6000 bags of the supermarket stuff camping this year, turns out it's a bargain.

that was before it cost nearly a tenner each meal

Yeah, this. I'm hoping to be organised enough to make my own breakfast and lunch and if I'm still hungry then I'll buy something on one of the stalls for tea.

This made me think about how much we'll be spending this year and as we already have a stove and gas I've decided to take some food to cook. As I can't sleep I've just come back from tesco. :o

I've got 2 packs of bacon for thursday and friday breakfast and will get some rolls tuesday night.

Burgers, plastic cheese and a disposable bbq for weds night (I will be very careful with bbq and soak it and all that).
Tins of chilli and packets of rice
Pasta and stir in sauce
Frankfurters
Macaroni cheese in a box :hmm:

That cost me just under 20 quid and will probably save us about 50 as even a bowl of pasta costs about a fiver now.

I can't believe you're all taking so much food:(....I wasn't really plannng on taking any..last time we took some porkpies and sausage rolls, but, i didn't want to eat the when falafel was near

Hmmm, I think I've gone too much for the dried, packet food and forgotten all about the good old pasta and pesto. Bacon and crusty rolls is a definite  Oh, and eggs, I'll take eggs.

It may be made out if chicken (really!) but when there is no way of safely storing real bacon, this thinly sliced and fried till crispy is a surprisingly acceptable substitute.

I can also be eaten cold but that is a bit too close to canibalism IMO!

If someone did eat you cold I think that would qualify as actual cannibalism.

Hahahaha XD

Haven't camped in ages and don't plan to for a VERY long time - but anyway. Ours were cold pop tarts, honey AND peanut butter on toast (this one was just me, I'm not a huge fan, but I was hungry and we were running out of foodage...). We also tried rusks (don't ask why, I have no idea) before going as a possible snack to take away...we ended up leaving them at home.

Brioche rolls or those long life type croissants that come foil packed - especially good at festivals when you've been on the mash and eating proppa food is a challenge - lovely, easy to eat sweet carb action. Nom.
