Things To Do On The Isle of Wight

I went there for my holiday last year :D

As well as all the things already suggested (and I loved visiting blackgang chine again after it was dark), you may also wish to...

Play miniature golf.

Play crazy golf.

Play on the slot machines (I won a toy car which I refused to give away on the grounds that I had never won a car before) and air hockey.

Visit the zoo.

Avoid the crinklies (this bit is tricky, because their coach drivers seem to sense the next place you are visiting, and to get them there just ahead of you).

Don't bother going to the pearl farm place - it's a rip off and full of tourists and crinklies.

well we had a fucking FANTASTIC weekend. upwards of 150 people crammed into The Mill just on the edge of Yarmouth where the marshes start..

Wonderful people, mad drinking, a great building, lots of wildlife.. Pie Face and I cycled to the needles (almost) and Freshwater Bay.. We nearly became those tourists who end up being helicoptered to safety from cliffs when the tide came in but instead i just smashed my knee on a boulder. :)

our plan to replace a proudly flown Union Jack near the Mill with a pair of dirty pants sadly came to nought

we did see these two - George and Dave the Splott Brothers - who did some cabaret on Saturday night and most of Sunday in the kitchen :)

if it was a long time ago that you went to blackgang chine, then some of what you saw will still be there, it's all falling into the sea, so gradually things are getting moved over the road (or probably have now).

my favourite part of blackgang was always the cowboy town

and you're right about the dinosaurs.

So what's to do in the daytime (mainly) on that bit of the Isle of Wight? i'm afraid i've always assumed it's the most boring place on earth so i'm happy to be proved wrong :)

Oooh  I'm glad/sorry I've only just seen this thread. I could have given you loads of things to do!

was that you I was talking to about that?

the chines are well weird and I highly recommend either them - especially on pills or acid  .

No...it was me in Shanklin Chine on 2:ci.

I've also done coke at the Donkey Sanctuary in Wroxall and donkey wobbler at Blackgang Chine. On a dinosaur :o oh, and I did half a pill at Waltzing Fucking Waters in Ryde. In my defence though, I'd have probably killed myself if I didn't get some chemical assistance through that one.

*edited to add* hurrah! that dub and pie had a good time. The IOW is my happy place.
