things Labour can do to avoid armageddon

The only way they will avoid meltdown at the next election and beyond is by rigging the vote.

They are doomed. Its a pity the rest of us will have to put up with Camerons lot as a result.

We could all leave the country i suppose

Aramageddon outa here! I think I will go and live in Poland. That is where most of the Polish immigrants are heading now that there is a slump in this country. They also have a rising socialist party or so I read.

I never realised that Labour losing the next election would bring on Armageddon.

Things are more serious than I thought.

Well if is what happened at the Glasgow bi election...

Still glad to see they are thinking outside the box, certainly wasn't expecting yesterdays leaked speech for Labour conference : I'm a bit of a jonah so I should run the country. And getting Saatchi on the case for national ID cards.... part of their listening and learning strategy? - Priceless, for everything else there's mastercard.*

*NB Buying things on the never never can be really expensive

Brown is getting even more desperate saying he will fight back like he did when he lost an eye and his daughters death.i fully expect him to come on and say that God has appeared and giving him a message.its all over gordy cromwell got it right when he said for gods sake go:D

Return of the Large Prescott Collider

Maybe Armageddon is the wrong word to describe the world disappearing in a black hole because of some out of control scientists' massive underground experiment in Geneva.

'appen they could bring back the Large Prescott Collider (LPC) to inject a bit of fun into elections by punching heckling voters and enhance the gaieity of nations....

Lost an eye? There's another political leader who also has no respect for civil liberties, workers rights etc...could they be merging?

No it wasn't an eye, (that was the leader of another political party) wasn't it a lost cerebral hemisphere?

The part of the brain which controls empathy is likewise missing.

I don't think the NL can avoid armageddon. NL have shot themselves in the foot so often with the relentless privatisations, corruption, undercutting British workers whilst not investing effectively in our young, the Iraq debacle, rising taxes with no appreciable improvement in services, a society that is suspicious and becoming more oppressive by the day.

Many of us are voting tory next time just to get rid of these fuckers.

We expected better from this lot but all we got was more sleaze and self interest. At least with the Tories you EXPECT a bit of wankery. It shouldn't have been something we should have expected from a party that was set up to represent the majority not the bankers and privatisers.

In the absence of a sensible (ie non left) social democratic alternative I'll vote Tory on the grounds that they cannot possibly be worse and its a chance to protect individual freedoms surrendered to the state under the influence of lies and spin.

Anyone who votes Tory who's on less than £60,000 a year is a fucking idiot

well the brilliant new energy polciy looks certain to stave of amergedon tho it looks like nushamebore are hoping armegdon will be avoided via seven days below zero killing of thosee 'eaters' who cannot pay the energy bills

Or someone who is so tired of this bunch of tossers that even the tories start to look good. Mind you its a mistake to view this is a class way. There have always been plenty of working class tories. Classes are not political monoliths.

Browns greatest achievemenet is to make Cameron look like a potential prime minister.

There will ALWAYS be working class Tories, ignorance is a disease you cannot cure

I don't think its a case of ignorance its more like making a different choice politically.

Knee jerk political affiliations are not soley the preserve of the right. What about all those working people who continue to vote in NL cronies and arse lickers without any thought just cos they are wearing a red rosette.

You speak like there is fundamental differences between NL and Tory.

The clear difference will be cuts in spending to give in tax cuts, if Tories win.

Which will have some impact on poorer people probably. Those who are not politically important however.

Outside of that I cant find much meaningful difference between them.

It removes the fuckers from office for a term. Maybe that way they can realise the depths of the mistakes they made during the Blair years.

In terms of the major stuff they didn't make any mistakes. New Labour in office has been exactly how it was supposed to be.

Screwing taxes out of the low paid, wasting money, foreign policy fuck ups, snooping, crass social engineering, the worship of titled crooks Yep they've definitely done what they set out to do and helped themselves individually in the process.

Zachor, you missed performance related pay in relation to meeting targets, which effectively creates financial incentives to distort underlying situations. Meaning that nobody can really grasp how bad things actually are. eg Inspector Gadget blog on crime stats or the ever growing number of people that have been disabled in pursuit of full employment; PFI figures hiding government debt...

Yup should have added this to the list of NL cock ups.

I suspect that's what led to the situation of reams of statistics being churned out saying everything's gtting better and better whilst personal experiences seem to be at odds with them.

Nothing there that people shouldn't have been able to see coming.

What happens to their chums under all those PFI contracts when the plug is pulled? Surely that brings a whole pyramid of subsidies and mutual back scratching tumbling down?

This got sort of addressed last week by the SNP when they were talking about their decision to scrap car park charges at Scottish hospitals, which they didn't do at the 3 hospitals in Scotland covered by PFI. The reason given being : the contracts are worded in such a way that they would have had to pay the PFI companies compensation which they had worked out would cost 3 times of policy as implemented, basically the PFI mob have got themselves watertight contracts.
The only way of getting of these PFI contracts without penalty payments, would be I think, to allow each of the PFI school, hospital, (what else have they used it on?) to privatise out, ie become independent fee paying schools, and BUPA hospitals. Defeats the object really so stuck paying 3* or more over the odds for services.
