Thefts or losses from Camberwell sorting office?

I'm going to need to do something soon - I've had a third parcel go AWOL from Brixton in the last two months... still trying to get an answer from the sender at the moment, so reserve judgement until I hear back.

Go and speak to guys at sorting office. I did that last year and they put a monitor on it and suddenly none of my post went "missing"

Is it possible minnie to say how this works? Advantages/disadvantages? Thanks if you have time

I'm not sure exactly. I think it's just when it goes into Blenheim Gardens, it straightaway goes to the guy who arranged it and then maybe he logs that it's been received there and takes note of who the postie is that will be delivering.

I've should have taken more notice when he was telling me but I was in a rush. Sorry

Naturally he could have just been fobbing me of but it seems a bit of a coincidence that none of my mail went missing after that

My mum's post in N.London has gone missing regularly over the years. A few years back she wrote to the Director General and amazingly received a reply to the effect that the whole sorting office had been arrested...

Bluestreak

I've just rung Royal Mail to make a complaint about delivery drivers.

Remembered you and asked about how you would go about getting a mail monitor put on your post (barring going to sorting office).

Ring Royal Mail complaints on

08457 740 740 (Option 4).

Ring them, and they'll contact the sorting office to tell them to monitor your post for two weeks. (Whether it will continue to go missing after two weeks is up though is another question)

I've not done it this year as 95% of my Christmas shopping was done well before it started getting busy and they could use the excuse of Christmas post

First Post - please excuse

I used to live on Dog Kennel Hill (Merry, err, Dog Kennel, btw:D)

(Does this forum go that far?)

One of our Posties was found to have about 20,000 items of delivery hidden under his floor-boards:eek:

I have complained to Royal Mail but they said won't do anything and apparently it's not their problem if their posties are stealing or losing stuff

Do you choose registered mail?

If anything registered goes missing they investigate it.They send a bloke out to the house and everything

They ignored the response, so I will be going for the FOI people soon.

Incidentally, I got an answer machine message saying they'd found one of the missing parcels.
Sadly, or deliberately, I dunno yet, the numbers(!) they left for me were unrecognised.

*facepalm*

Did you ring the complaints number?

No. As an experienced public sector Complaints type I know better than that.

Seriously, phone calls are next to useless in pursuing complaints in organisations that don't publish their complaints handling procedure. They exist to avoid written complaints which can't be ignored, fobbed off, "disqualified", misunderstood, passed around etc etc.

Well, to put your problem into context, in the two years of living where I live, I have received exactly 100% of everything I have been sent, ebay, shops, you name it, I have got it.

So for so much missing for one person is utterly incredible. Keep writing to them. If anything was sent recorded delivery I think the sender can claim up to some set value (might be 50 quid) for its loss.

Not sure you can claim for standard mail.

you can, because I sold something on ebay but the buyer did'nt get it,so I had to refund him. The post office gave me my money back - they wanted to see a copy of my post office reciept and print outs of my ebay listing.

I've just received two timesheets for w/e 16 November and 22 November.

I'm sure my agency don't believe me when I keep asking them to fax me a timesheet as I've not received mine in time :D

Grrrr..........

Think this is happening to me now.

Amazon package due last Friday - still hasn't arrived.

It's a bit strange though because the last few have come through fine.

Are people still experiencing troubles with this sorting office?

Also, how did the various FOI requests, post monitoring, complaints go?
