A Captain Rock "Greatest Hits" double LP, unmixed, has been released and you can get the originals of Aleem and Leeroy Burgess' Release Yourself and Get Loose on a Leeroy Burgess Greatest Hits album thats around at the moment too, in case you want to track them down on wax.

Very true mate, although runmour has it that the 'Capt Rock' stuff was taken from vinyl pressings and not the master recordings....they have apparently been lost. I haven't heard the LP so I don't know if this is true or not. BUT I have heard the re-press of 'One For The Treble' by Davy DMX which was released on a related label, and the quality was pretty poor (especially the B side). Quite shocking for a relatively well known record label which bothered to buy the Nia and Tuff City back catalogues.

'Release Yourself' and 'Get Loose' are quite easy to find on 12", surprisingly they are far easier to find on the original Nia 12" pressing than the UK Streetwave label versions. You should expect to pay anything from £10 to £15 for either Aleem record, the Capt Rock 12"s are a little more expensive - especially on the Nia promo pressings. The Leroy Burgess Anthologies to which you refer are now only apparently available on CD, the vinyl copies are no longer available. So if you find them they are worth buying!

I've got the Capt Rock LP and the quality isn't amazing but it's not noticeably bad. The quality isn't consistent on all the tracks though so that would fit with the rumour that they were taken from vinyl. They're all a lot better than some bootlegs I've got anyway and it's deffinitely worth picking up. Listening to it now and they still rock.

"Calling Captain Rock......"

Have the Leeroy Burgess on vinyl too, interesting it's been deleted. I think I got it from FOPP a couple of years back if memory serves.

Any joy with that track ID or is it too obscure even for you BB? :D

I've had ANOTHER listen to this one TB, do you mean the track that sits between 'Capt Rock to the Future Shock' - the early 80's soul track which sounds as if it was released around 1983/4?

I'll put up the Tricky Tee track in the next few days. If you want a copy of 'Let's Jam' on vinyl there is a place selling a 12" at the moment for £70!

Shocking.

Are there any lyrics in this tracks? can you provide me with a sample to listen to?

That's what I like to hear, the sound of a gauntlet being picked up.

The website with the original file is offline but if you PM me your email address I'll send an mp3 of it.

No vocals I'm afraid.
