Anyone else hear that Chris Candido has died following a blood clot after surgery on his injured leg

Think he was only 34 as well.

Tributes were posted on tna and wwe sites as well as the usual wrestling websites

Anyone else watching Backlash?

The Hurricane and Rosey are tag team champs

I love it when i can watch the PPV live for a change. Bank holidays are so well timed sometimes...

Loads of good matches on Backlash last night :) Benjamin v Jericho was a great start. Benjamin just gets better and better...

Hogan + Michaels v Hassan + Daivari was a joke though. All that crap 'real American' posturing reflecting the mood of the country. I wish they would keep the politics out of it really.

It was bad enough when the crowd were chanting USA during the tag team match when La Resistance were against Tajiri (clearly Japanese) and Regal (with England written on his tights). A point clearly not lost on JR, who commented on it too.

Bout time The Hurricane came up a few notches, he's been jobbing for years now

Yeah i did hear about it, i wondered what the fuck had happened to him as he has only very recently joined TNA. Its a great shame. :( :(

He said it was aimed against La Resistance (which it clearly was) with the fucking dumb shits in the crowd stupidly forgetting that the only person from the USA in that match was La Resistance's Robert Conway.

But don't forget that Rob Conway is a 'French Sympathiser' :D

he moved to canada the bastard. la resitence havn't pretended to be french since rene dupree left that group. They are from quebec these days i believe.

dieing from bodged up surgery really isn't fair on candidio although i have never really rated him and don't think it will do tna any real harm.

Hogan has always been a joke and noew is even more of one he has recently had a hip replacmeant and can't even do his leg drop(how the fuck is that a finisher these days???) for fear of it popping out hence the silly finish in that match.

Wether or not Candido not being in TNA will do the promotion any harm doesnt matter, a man lost his life at a rather young age and thats what should be remembered, not that he wasnt a loss to the promotion. Its very sad. :( :(

Hogans leg drop finisher is no worse than The Rock's peoples elbow where he runs across the ring for so long that corpses wake up and then drops a really pathetic elbow compared to elbows off the top rope that EVERYONE kicks out of.

But it's 'The People's' elbow, just for us, how can you say such a thing :D

Really though, for a finishing move it's not up there with the Stunner, the frog splash, the Tombstone or the Pedigree....well actually quite a lot of other finishing moves are much better.

The Rock Bottom wasn't that good a finishing move either. I could never understand how people didn't kick out of that either.

I'm quite pleased to see the return of the Worm though, which surely is the longest move ever. Scotty 2 Hotty at least shows that it isn't a serious move and just a bit of a crowd pleaser.

scotty 2 hotty being serious would be a worrying thing.

didn't mean to take candidos death lightly its tragic for all that know him.

what the rock does in the ring is never that importent the bloke looks the part and his mic work is second to none.

I agree.....

Many people will have a go at The Rock, but when i was watching the WWE(F) PPV the other night i was thinking that no-one was topping the 'promo cutting' that The Rock does. That's what took him to a totally different level when it came to his fame in the WWE.

I kinda miss The Rock really because of that.....

Dare you! Two wrestling threads in the sports forum may be a bridge too far for all the football fans in her :D

I assume we're restricting this to finishers used in McMahonLand, otherwise I'll have to start nominating half of Japan.

My winner under those restrictions, therefore, is Shane Helms' Vertebreaker (which he did use in WWE a few times immediately after joining up). Open it up to "The North American Big Two", and the Vertebreaker is joined by the Canadian Destroyer (somersault piledriver) and the Crippler Crossface as best submission finisher.

That means, with the introduction of the crippler crossface (top move BTW) it may have to be two finishing manouver threads...one for submissions and one for pins...

Ninjaboy.....go for it! Your probably the only one who will get away with it
:D

The Canadian Destroyer is the greatest move ever. Isnt Shane Helmes now The Hurricane and was in 3 count with Shannon Moore and that other guy??

It could be him, I think he used to be called Hurricane Helms before he got the full on superhero costume.

shane helmes is indeed the hurricane.

best finishers at the minute. petey williams(tna)- canadian destroyer, billy kidmans(wwe)- shooting star press, shark boy(tna)- deep sea drop.

Shane Helms, Shannon Moore (who were the team) and Evan Karagias was the third man (IIRC). A spectacularly average cruiserweight. I've not seen anything of him since WCW went ka-put.

Oh yeah, and then there was the whole Tank Abbott thing, but we're not going to speak about that because it's too fucking scary.

Tank Abbot, is about the hardest man in the world, i wouldnt fuck with him, he might not be able to wrestle but he can kill anybody in a fight.

Kurt Angle said in the middle of the show how he wanted "beastiality style" sex with Booker T's wife. :D :D

Then at the end Kurt Angle layed out Booker T in their match then ran back to rape Bookers wife and when he came back to stop Kurt he was ambushed while that annoying bint he is married to did some really bad hysterical acting. :D

WWE put Lita and Edge together on screen.

Shame the storyline had to wait a bit after then real life events.

Gonna be some great heat on those two.

I think the WWE should have gone back to its ethic-less old days and milked the Lita-Matt 'real' break up to create an excellent heel

That'll be John Cena. He's a pretty good wrestler. Good finishing move- the F.U.

He's just released a rap record :D
