there's a generation split going on here isn't there?

i never cared for WWF - nonsense frankly - but spent many a happy 70s afternoon watching my nan shouting at Giant Haystacks on the telly...
There's also a split in the WWF era.

I grew up watching Wrestlemania and the Rumbles - lost interest when the WCW guys joined - nowadays it's all Raw and Smackdown...

i loved wrestling when i was a kid (1990), but only saw a few cos we didnt have sky or nowt

then we had sky when i was 18, (1998) and there was a couple of really good seasons. it is pretty cack at the moment, but mind you i havnt watched for about a year, so i wouldnt know

not too keen on the british wrestling, it's kind of a different thing....

aye. cant go wrong with dickie davies saturday afternoon watching Skull Murphy putting his well known "crocodile" or "boston crab" submission moves on the skinny unknown wrestlers that always took a beating in the tag team match ups

happy days

I know it's scripted but it's entertaining, and some of the bumps that get taken are professional as hell. Personally i'm behind Shelton Benjamin to make it bigger than he has so far, amazing talent and fitness levels.

danm right! and shelton is pretty it has to be said, but he has no charisma which means he wont rise that far.

Chris Jericho's performance of Fozzy's next hit "Shelton Benjamin is a little bitch" on RAW last night was hilarious. :D :D

There isn't really a generation split. I used to watch Kendo Nagasaki, Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks on World of Sport when i was a kid. but times have changed and WWF is the dominant force in Wrestling nowadays. That's why it's mostly WWF that's being discussed on this thread.

I still remember sadly the day that Shane McMahon got in the ring at a WCW PPV and announced that WWF (well him actually, as it was part of the WWF storyline at the time) had bought WCW.

It all went a bit downhill after that really. When there was competition it was more interesting.

I do still watch a bit of WWF(E) now, but not as regularly as i used to.

i even hated hulk hogan when i was a kid

i liked earthquake and tugboat, and of course the taker was the best....

i remember that series he did 'thunder in paradise' that used to be on saturday mornings....

just hulk in general sucked balls, and ultimate warrior

from that era, only macho man randy savage and jake the snake roberts i can remember off the top of my head

which just goes to show you need a cool nickname...

Was Jake the snake the wrestler with the bad coke habit in that wrestling movie a few years back?

Don't you double-cross him
Or get in his way
Because if you do you're gonna have to pay
To the man called Sting!

When was The Phenominal AJ Styles in the WWE?

I have had destination x since last month!!! just waiting for lockdown to be delivered(it was on sunday). destination x was brillinat the ultimate x match with skipper danails and aj doing silly acrobatics on the big x thing was genius!

I saw aj styles vs chris danails in coventry in march, it was very impressive.

oh shit and to sound like a geek aj styles was in wwe. He was just starting out in wcw when they got bought out by wwf and they just went through the lists cutting all the wcw people the didn't want and aj was nothing so let him go. ooops!

dave

Wasn't his name Jason Jett? They head a really good little angle going there. If only Bisch and Fusient had been able to complete their takeover...

nah he has always wrestled under aj styles .
jason jett is now wrestling as ez money according to google. he was in tna for a ewhile but no idea what he is doing now.

dave

Anyone know whatever happened to the nWo B team they had in WCW?? None of them seem to be wrestling now like Bryan Adams and the others whose name have escaped me, thanks to a distraction by some other bloke in the room. The guys i'm on about all have really stupid backwards flat caps on.

If the WWE wanted Styles they would have taken him ages ago. But he's too scared of being a small fish in a big pond. None of that moral crap that he wont work for Vince. They dont want him.

Jeff Jarrett?! C'mon FFS...a few years ago the man was in a feud with Chyna over hoover.

The Outlaw....washed up, Nash, Hall, XPAC washed up
Hardy...couldnt take the pressure in WWE
Mike Tenay...makes Michael Cole look good

X-Division...alright but that type of wrestling died a popularity death in the late early 00's

oh oh oh where to begin. Right start with styles. Aj was repeatedly said he has no intrest in going to wwe for a number of reasons. The first and most obvious is that ww like big men aj would be doing what the equally talented paul london and billy kidman are doing. Fuck all! Also as you have said big fish small pond and what the fuck is wrong with that to be fiar mowst football teams have at least one player that is far to good to be at the club and im sure they stay for similer reasons(and possibly loyalty but its unlikely).
also as a big fish in a small pond your going to make decent money as you have better drawing power will sell more merchandise etc etc. I personally belive aj wants tna to succeed and so thats why he stays around which is nice.

Jeff jarett well his daddy owns the company(jerry jarett) so he has had the belt for time and will unfortunatley continue. Worth pointing out though that many blokes got the hell beaten out of them by chyna just jarett was one of the first to be willing to put over a girl so fair play to him(although that domestic violence match was opne of the worst angles ever!!)

Hall is gone from TNA and will not return(drugs problems). Nash has never been able to wrestle but is able to draw a crowd(ask wcw!) umm to be fair he is shite.

Billy gunn is still a decent wrestler pushing on a bit now but he has a danm good athletic background and it does show in the ring him and ddp still look like active wrestlers and seeing as wwe includes ric flair in its roster and is about to bring in hulk hogan(briefly) again i don'ty think tna has the market on has beens(or never was in the case of flair in my humble opinion).

xpac i can't decide if he is still any good or not so ummm yeah.

as for jeff hardy one of the most sucessful tag team wrestlers of all time(cant wait to see if tna put the hardy boys back together!) but hated the touring shudule and wanted to do other shit as well(he is in a dire band rides moto xand varuious other shite) jereicho is facing the same dilema. Tna recored up 3 programmes in one week and have no house shows which means hardy and others only have to work something like 5 days a month(many do other shows for other promotions) so it seems to be fair enough. wwe did almost everything they could think of to try and keep him(before he got got with a reefer) and is a very very class wrestler.

As for x-divsion ending in the early 00's. umm we are in 2005 it still is the early 00's as far as i'm concerned and your chatting shite anyway there still is obviously a market for the high fliers wwe has recenl;y been pushing its cruserweight divsion more and with TNA and CZW gradully getting more exposure it seems clear that some fans want to see aj styles vs christopher danials more then batista and bradshaw!

i fucking love wrestling.
