The Wire - Series 1-4 discussion and NO Series 5 spoilers please

S4 was just so sad, I was in tears on several occasions. Don't think any of the other series were quite so relentlessly bleak. In fact I thought S3 was a bit toytown what with the Hamsterdam storyline, which I thought a bit crap.

A definite return to form in S4.

I kept shouting at the telly for someone to help Bubbles, and then when Sherrod came back and you finally thought he was going to get some help sorting out the cunt robbing him it just got worse.:(

Laughed out loud though when Bubs thought Pres was undecover in the school:D

Me too. I really, really wish Bodie getting killed hadn't been spoiled on here  :(

Same here. Particularly since he makes it all the way through S4, so with every episode I was bracing myself for him to get killed, and then he didn't, so I started to hope that maybe I had misread. And then of course I had not

Anyway, now that we've finished S4 (well, a little while ago) I have allowed myself to read this unambiguously titled thread and contribute. It took a good while for me to warm to this one, three or four episodes at least - but once I did, hello to the pain. I thought the kids really added an extra layer of heartbreak and comedy to everything, giving you one more microcosmic level of social constraint to think about. They were so excellent. Also great to see Weebay, and fascinating to see what he does. There was so much to enjoy in this series actually - a brief return from Spiros, Prop Joe having to buy back the stash and putting the price up to the rest of the co-op, Carver maturing and Herc being such a fuck-up...

We're going to do a S1-4 rewatch while waiting for the final season of brilliance to come out. Should be interesting!
