The widespread destruction of gardens

Soon, I believe, planning permish will be required because it's such a problem. It's contributing to flooding as well.

a few years ago there was a flash flood in west hampstead - i managed flats there at the time - on that road - very few gardens to allow the water to drain away - basement flats were fucked

It's a shame there's so much tarmac going down as there are alternatives - we've got gravel (but for a different reason) as have my parents in their drive. Has anyone tried that woodbark stuff? Good for paths at least. We've got an unfinished concrete path running across the back of our garden, looks godawful and just shunts spring water closer to the house. I'd love to rip it out.

I hate it too :(

I'm going to be after some help for my front garden soon cos I don't have time to do any real gardening but don't really want to pave it either

Ive wrote to the council asking them about the legality of cutting down old established trees and the fuckers have failed to reply, Bolton evening news, at least, published two of my letters about.
Its a fuckin disgrace that people are allowed to get away with it:mad:

The houses round here are covered by a conservation order, but only trees with a diameter of more than 75cm can't be touched, which isn't going to be that many.

My garden is partly paved, and I can't do anything about that, but I wouldn't cut down trees and dig up plants just for an easy life.
