I like Quadrophenia a lot, and I also like Bauhaus. In fact the two are strangely blended for me, as around the time I was listening to my Bauhaus tapes I met someone who would play me Quadrophenia on endless repeats.

Pretty good film too, but not a patch on the brilliance of the album.

I vote for pretty much the reverse: great film (for the above reasons applied to the album), but album very disappointing.

I had it way back then, but it was hardly played. I think I gave it to a cousin.

I think if you knew the album before it was made into a film you appreciate it much better. If I'd come cold to the image of "ace face" Sting dancing like a twat I might like it a lot less than I do.

Not being a big fan of "prog rock" the very notion of the "concept album" leaves me cold. However, despite the pretensions surrounding it, I like "Quadrophenia" for some of its powerful individual tracks: "5.15", "Bell boy", "Had enough", and the "Love reign o'er me" theme.

Me too! I saw the film three times in the cinema when it came out (no video in those days). But the album's still much better. The picture story book that came with the 12" album was really good, and a reminder now that (with the reduced size of CDs) the possiblility of ambitious sleeve art has been reduced.
