it's got that HORRIBLE synth noise burbling along and then it just turns into another one of their bloated rock songs. :(
the best kind. Whoever said rock should be prissy and kewl.
More guitar solos, longer songs; the more pomp and circumstance the fucking better in my book. Better than any old punk shit or this modern crap we hear today (ooh aren't kaiser chiefs so relevant darlings!)

cue a hastily photoshopped baba o'rly.

can't get excited about the who really, though i do like "won't get fooled again".

No, I probably wasn't even at school when it came out. But I disliked it from when I first heard it and I've never understood why it's considered a classic. Ditto Won't Get Fooled Again - that never-ending fucking intro makes me want to slaughter puppies

I'd agree with Won't Get Fooled Again.

But Baba O Riley was something fresh and new when it came out. Again, it has to be considered against the backdrop of its time.

You knows the score :)

I think we share a generation here Johnny ;)

It felt good back then to hear Townsend sing 'teenage wasteland'. We knew exactly what he was talking about. Yeah, because we were all wasted...

I see that the overwhelming majority in this poll think it has some mark of quality, even if some toneless twat thinks it's 'shite'. :D ;)

well, sheesh, that told me.

If more people like it, it MUST be good.

I'm likely to see what now passes for The Who at Glastonbury in June ...

I'll go along. But if they're shite, a rush back to the Cider Bus it is!!

I'm of two minds about seeing the old groups nowadays.

I've seen the Stones a few times, but it has all the original members. I don't like it when the lineup includes fill-in musicians.

This is weird, I was thinking of this tune only this morning and I NEVER think of this tune.....weird.

Oh, and I quite like it :)

Dub, you're wrong again.

It gets a double thumbs up from me,.

Well anyway. I guess this thread is drawing to a close. Much tighter battle than I thought - 41 to 6. Fuck. Utterly pointless thread.
