The 'Where Are You Going On Your Summer Holiday' thread...

Lots of long weekends planned - Bruges in June, Gdansk in August, Madrid in October and Tallinn in December.

Mr. QofG's also keen for fish, chips and knickerbockerglories in Scarborough so hopefully we'll go there too!

Granada for a weekend in July, and then 18 days in Greece in September  Probably try and fit in a trip to Berlin in between those two too.

I love Gdansk, have you been before?

We have - two years ago. Absolutely loved it, relaxed atmosphere, quite different to Krakow where we've been a number of times, some lovely architecture and museums including the fantastic Solidarity exhibition.

Also spent a pleasant few hours in and around the pier in Sopot! Great food, great bars. Lovely!

Bristol :hmm:

(well...I-ll be going to Chiapas and the Yucatann for 2 and half weeks before leaving Mexico, and Moving to Italy at the end of the Summer...but Bristol is the big trip)

road trip around these islands in september
starting at friend house near reading
bath>bristol>cardiff>pembroke>rosslare>waterford>wexford>cashel>tara?>dublin>liverpool>lake district>glasgow>stirling>st andrews>edinburgh>berwick>alnwick>whitby?>york>notts>leics>bury>colchester>cantuar>dover>hastings>brighton

A few festivals and camping breaks which I hope will include Shambala festival and going to the Lake District. In November I'm off to India for 3 weeks. Going to Rajasthan for 2 weeks then flying down to Goa for the last week.

In the future I would like to spend a few weeks in Italy...would be cool to hire a villa and maybe go with friends...:)

Going to visit Madusa in Barcelona then pop down to Granada to hang out with some urban folks.
And Endorset Festival!!!

Me and cliche are going to the south east of Mykonos, and staying in what looks like a really nice hotel.

And also Latitude fest :)

I'm hoping to go to Papingo in Greece end of September. I don't do summer holidays in the summer.

12th of july ...

I can't fucking wait for it to be honest ... am going to moscow, st petes and some towns around the area, for 9 days ... :D

Amazing. Properly amazing. I dream of mezze in a restaurant called J23

People are genuinely the friendliest I have ever met. No overly pressuring sales people, just happy and talkative (at least this is the case in the Dalaman region where I've been).

300 days of sunshine a year. Perfect, clean beaches. Very well priced. A good standard of English spoken in the seaside resorts.

I suppose it could be seen as a bit Anglicised / working class for some people's tastes in the bigger resorts (Bodrum, Hisaronu/Ovacik, etc) but there's still plenty of the 'real' Turkey about if you take a wander of the beaten track.

The beach / national park at Olu Deniz is just amazing:

Can't wait to paraglide of the mountain top as in the third picture... and in the second pic you can see the hotel we're staying in. Best of all 4* hotel (with great reviews on holidaywatchdog.com), flights, transfers for 2 people came to £420.

If it seems like I'm raving about it, it's 'cos I was truly blown away by the place, the food and the people.

I agree with everything you've said about Turkey. It is amazing. My gf and I had a kayak fight in the bay of Olu Deniz which was a highlight.

Also, hire scooters. Best way to get off the beaten track. Just watch the crazy Dolmush drivers.

I'm going to Wales for a weekend in June. That's all I have planned so far. To be fair though, I have already been skiing in the Czech Republic, to Krakow, Berlin, and a week at the Baltic Sea this year.

a few days in the Czech Republic in September - well, I hope so anyway - and a few weekends away seeing friends and family - Norwich, Exeter, Hull.

Glade and beautiful days. Certainly gonna need a holiday after glade, anyway.

otherwise, some low-key camping trips i reckon. wouldn't mind a bit of a cycle tour somewhere, maybe scotland, but it depends when bf can get holiday booked as his work are really fussy

Beautiful Days and Endorse It in August will be my summer holidays; along with a long wedding/birthday weekend in Leeds :)

i'm going to Madrid on monday for a week.
Then Croatia in June, Nice in July, then up the road to Latitude.

Hopefully we'll make it to New York and one other place in the 'States (maybe Miami, San Fran or potentially Barbados) in September.

Not bad for one year, especially as i'm approaching 2 years of not having left the UK :D
