The Warriors-Anybody ever followed in their footsteps ?

The gang on the rollerskates were the most pathetic, even though they all had baseball bats.

Is my memory going or did they actually wear t-shirts with a bow-tie and tuxedo front printed on them? Leo Sayer used to wear one, nuff said.

No, I think you're getting two different gangs mixed up: There was the Baseball Furies who were the (obv) the baseball gang...who attacked a couple of Warriors in the park earlier on...they had, you guessed it, baseball bats.

THEN, later in the film, you had the kids in denim boiler suits and/dungerees who were on rollerskates who attacked the Warriors in the subway when they were almost on a home straight (actually, I think maybe only a couple of the gang were on skates... and one who WAS on skates- the first member you see, had a bar which he used in the gents loos looking for the warriors in the cubicles)

Check this out!

Most of the cast members that made up the titular street gang in the 1979 cult classic The Warriors reunited on the Q Train on September 13th to take one last ride together to Coney Island, where hundreds waited at a fan-organized event celebrating the Walter Hill-directed film. "These subways are different than they were in 1978," actor Michael Beck, who played the head-Warrior-in-charge Swan in the film, told Rolling Stone on the voyage to the Boardwalk.

David Harris (Cochise), Dorsey Wright (Cleon), Terry Michos (Vermin) and Thomas G. Waites (Fox) were also on hand for the celebration, with the original cast greeted at Coney Island by scores of film fans and similarly vested "gangs" who were drawn together by the movie. "Basically, this is a social club for Coney Island," one attendee said. "We started it for the youth though, because of all the gang violence that was happening in our town and what not. We tried to get all the youth to join us instead of joining real gangs."

Watch 'The Warriors' Recreate Their Last Subway Ride Home

You could spend ages piecing the inaccuracies of the film with regards to the subway shots - some of it was filmed in Queens not Brooklyn on the "J" line near Cypress Hills for example - no matter and no care - a fabulous film and a great recreation of the film with these stars.

Today's "Q" train then was the "QB" = with slightly better -well cleaner - cars than the 1978 classic.

There's an interesting documentary on Netflix at the moment about gangs in New York in the 60s and 70s, and of the efforts to bring them together, only for a peacemaker to be killed... The focus is on the South Bronx, and at the end rattles through the transition from gangs to hip hop culture (which is interesting in itself), but plenty of stuff for the Warriors fan to get into - especially in explaining the use of outlaw motorcycle gang-type colours.

I briefly visited the 'festival' on the Sunday (knew nothing about it though stumbled across a poster for it on the Saturday and went back on Sunday for a look-see)...Love Coney Island and it's Warriors connections at the best of times, though was great to see the superfans in full getup. For 364 days of the year they were Derek from accounts, but today they were...;) Will post up some pics when I get in

There's a great site about the filming locations here The New York City Filming Locations of The Warriors – Part 1
