The voice that tells you which bus you just boarded

I missed the days when people were capable of exiting buses without incident and without the help of alarm beeps and voices to warn them the doors were about to close :(

:D:D

I'm sure women used to get off the bus a lot quicker when they had their pushchairs folded up and the baby under the other arm :hmm:

Why does the 159 tell you that you're getting to St Thomas's Hospital and yet for the No. 45 it doesn't tell you when you're getting to King's.

St Thomas's is smack in front of your face. Lots of people get off the bus in Coldharbour Lane totally lost looking for King's

After getting the No. 45 to hospital toda, it would seem that the No. 45 has finally realised the error of its ways and now announces "Caldecott Road, alight here for King's College Hospital" :D

I liked it when the announcements were new and not working at all properly. Particularly when I was on a bus down Brixton Hill and as we stopped outside Nisa it announced that we were at Selfridges. And Lambeth town hall was introduced as the houses of parliament.

However, must be very confusing for tourists on Brixton Hill to find they're approaching Trafalgar Square when they're approaching Brixton, as has happened a few times

It's only Britain that disembodied voices are so omnipresent. It's like aural torture. Supermarkets, post office, bank queues, satnavs etc etc. Automatons, often on repeat. "Go to aisle number six please" etc etc.

French railway stations are terrible for this. They don't just have announcers, they have a five second bit of music that introduces the announcer. It makes the Gare de Nord in Paris very frustrating because there are announcements every two seconds :(
