the very best of East 17

I found myself up at 2am watching this last night. A bit dated now but fascinating stuff. Brian Harvey is very predictable and generally mouths off a lot, meanwhile Tony Mortimer who is clearly the only one who made any money out of it, is generally pretty odd all the time, very easy to see how it all blew up.

I found the other two, Terry and John to be the most likeable of all of them. John's a roofer these days  and by the look of it Terry is the only original member left.

I bought the cassette single of It’s Alright

They were a superior boy band to the likes of Bad Boys Inc and EYC

Worked as an unpaid production runner on a series of The White Room (live music show). E17 played and a mate runs up while I’m doing something and goes ‘Ming can you come have a look at something we’ve found in E17’s dancers dressing room??’. So i find a large ziplock bag pinned to the wall full of powder with the word ‘Charlie’ written on it. I do the gum test. Turns out it was foundation makeup.

While saying that though a memo was sent round at one point requesting staff didn’t chop lines out on the photocopier as it was scarring the glass and effecting the print quality.

Small World Ming.
I was responsible for keeping the White room white, amongst other jobs for the art department.
Many a good night during the 3 serieses they made.

Cool! I was working at Ealing Job Centre round the corner. Just worked evenings On the show. You didn’t know ‘Big‘ Dave who worked in the wardrobe department? He’s the guy who got me the gig. Really good fun. I worked on the series with the Fun Loving Criminals on presented by Mark Radcliffe.

ETA: I say worked on. It was more putting towels out on stages and nicking as much Hoegaarden beer (the sponsor) as possible.

E17 played E17 only recently on the now called Fellowship Square, the old Town Hall. They were great 😊. Tuna baked potatoes were not available.
