The Traditional "New Series of Later... " Analysis

I was disappointed enough to turn the sound down and listen to next door's car alarm () instead. All a bit bland last night.

Tonight, it's...

Patti Smith
Cold War Kids
Joe Cocker
The Cribs
Simply Red

-I think I'll give it a miss this week.

i saw patti smith at the roundhouse last night and she was incredible. her opening song on this tonight was hardly recognisible as the same person. her covers last night were total reinventions, fiery, unhinged, just brilliant. and that 'gimme shelter' was plod, plod, plod. very strange. please don't judge her by it.

my god, the rest of the line up is turgid isn't it.

Normally Gimme Shelter has me in tears cos it was one of my Dad's favourite songs and was played at his funeral. But that version couldn't have left me more cold. Really, really average :(

Quite liking the Kate Nash song but her accent is rather annoying (just sounds a bit too much like she's putting it on).

I heard Shaun Ryder interviewed on the radio yesterday, and I thought he seemed more together than he has been for ages. Hard to tell for sure though, tbh.

Tonight...

The Who
Kaiser Chiefs
The White Stripes
Silversun Pickups
Pink Martini
Anjani
James Hunter

Apart from The White Stripes, none of that tickles my fancy at all.

Thought the White Stripes were great :) Icky Thump is a grower, but wasn't too impressed with Effect and Cause. And I was rather indignant when JH poked his neb in on Doorbell, although I was intrigued by the new pedal effects Jack brought to it

Loved James Hunter, HATED Pink Martini, Anjani (sp?) was oook, and the Kaiser Chiefs were...well...they were the Kaiser Chiefs...harmless, technical pop songs

Icky Thump sounded great live. Like you say, wasn't too bothered by Effect & Cause.

I think I switched off after that.

Yup, saw above show Bjork was pretty good but what I found especially intriguing was the reactable.
Had to hunt around by the way to find out what on earth it was.
