The Top 100 Most Influential People On The Left

"If this list had been compiled last year, Salmond may not even have been on it, but the way he almost single-handedly destroyed Labour’s position in the Scottish Parliament, and the statesman-like way he has handled himself since justify his top three position. He leads a minority administration without seeming to compromise.

He’s a man of the left who is starting to build a coalition of interests which even appeal to some on the right. The question is, will be still be here next year? "

Translation: he is a Jocko and even though it was quite blantantly apparent to nearly everyone in Scotland this time last year that Salmond would at least be a major power broker in Holyrood, we have never heard that much about him in London.

I think butchers is asking, if, whilst working at the Institute of Ideas, you actually came across any - ideas, that is as opposed to apologetics for the status quo.

It wasn't a clearly made question if that was the case.

Is this list anything like those Sunday supplement lists of the richest people? Is there a correlation between these people and how much media attention / wealth they have soaked up?

Isn't this an example of the way that terms like 'Left' or 'Radical' have become devalued? What have people like Livingstone or Brown got to do with left wing politics? Maybe they should be prosecuted unde the Trade Descriptions Act.
