the thread for bitching about west ham

Wow, so many uninformed opinions about West Ham (or even worse, opinions formed from red tops or SSN)

West Ham did have a significant 'element' in their support..just like Villa, Brum, Stoke, Portsmouth, Chelsea and Leeds all had significant 'crews'. Singling out West Ham as some sort of racist hotspot and missing those clubs, and even Millwall takes some effort :p

As has been mentioned, Brown was/is a bent, corrupt, money grabbing shitcunt of the highest order. I've no doubt that he glossed over 'certain' parts of the transfer of Masher and Tevez as he thought he'd be out of the picture when Kia-ora bought the place, so it wouldn't matter to him. As it turns out, it was bought by others and when the time came, the club owned up to the dealings of the previous administration. Yes, we were lucky that we were 'only' fined a record amount (substantially more than Chelsea were for breaking the rules in tapping up Cole) but the real reason, the absolute truth of it is, Sheff Utd blew a 10 point lead over West Ham, and failed to win at home to the worst team (form wise) in the league when all they needed was a point. That, is the reason they were relegated; after all, I didin't hear any mumbling over Tevez when he played in the 3-0 defeat at Bramall Lane.

The rules over here regarding 3rd party ownership are utterly outdated in these days of SA cartels owning players etc. European clubs have been dealing with this for years with no bother and the FA need to do something so they can clarify the situation of deals like the Howard 'loan' and cheekily, Steve Kabbas' deal from Sheff U to Watford which forbode him playing against them :D

And lets not mention West Ham are so loved by the FA that no doubt, as we speak, the meeja darhlings of Liverpool are facing questions over their rather blatent tapping up of Yossi Benayoun  (gives his word to sign a new contract until interest in him is *leaked* )

The whole game is bent. Roll on August :)

Questions - Since WH claimed to know nothing about any deal, could you say that ManU 'tapped up' Tevez?

This owning of players by third parties and whoring them out to the highest bidder is, as I said before, a form of C21st slavery. Don't you think the FA would be better stamping down on the practice now that it's become public knowledge?

Well, it's all smoke and mirrors isn't it? I'm sure that atm, it's all a case of everyone trying to call each others bluff. technically, Man U have been tapping up Tevez, but the reality is that if a big club want a player - regardless of whether he's owned by them, a consortium of businessmen and agents or the Catholic Church - they'll get him. That is part of the point I was making when I said the whole game is rife with this sort of thing.

I totally agree with you. I'm not keen on this sort of thing creeping into the EPL. It was bad enough when clubs had players lock stock and I'm not too sure how these sort of agreements are binding, especially under pretty heavy EU employment and Human Rights Laws.
I would say, that this is something that isn't going to go away, unless you want to stop dealing with South American players where it is a way of life.

I dunno, can of worms has really been opened up hasn't it?

I won't dispute the hooligan bit or the bitterness (I live in east London and know they can moan) but in my own experiences Villa has been the most vocal I've seen in the Midlands for racism and the loyalist element at England games (not the same but lets be honest it normally goes hand in hand).

That is utter bollocks - it rivals some of the stuff about 9/11 which is on here.

Villa have a few knuckle-draggers just like any other club, but I've never heard any monkey-chanting or similar from our supporters, even at away matches. The only racism I've heard is from one individual fuckwit who thought it was funny to sing a holocaust song at Spurs. I've recently stood amongst the home supporters at Chelsea, Charlton and Leyton Orient and heard much more racist shite from them.

And what is your basis for asserting that the "loyalist" element in England all comes from the Midlands, or from Villa? Unbelievable.

hehe.... west ham have blocked tevez' medical at man utd.

too right too. I can't believe they haven't been done for tapping him up. :D

I never mentioned monkey chants. Sorry you don't like it but out of all the Midlands teams Villa have been the most racist I've encountered, mainly just down to passive comments overheard in the pub beforehand at both Villa games I've been to, at the England games at Villa park.

Thats not to say the others (or anyone) are beacons of racial harmony but I can only speak as I find. Nor that Villa should be singled out as a consequence but then I think neither should west Ham. Club support in England is generally the same across the board relating to background/class so to me so will the personal prejudices expressed or not.

As for the Loyalist thing, there used to be quite an active Loyalist mob of Villa that used to go to England. It's prejudicial to say but again, in my experience, where you find clubs affiliated with that, you do tend to find more active or vocal racism re Chelsea, Leeds. Not something I've really seen with your city rivals.

Sorry, I thought this was a thread about moaning about West 'Aaaam. Is that not allowed?

Of course but I thought that particular accusation was unfair and highlighted why.
