"Bang". "Oh my God, what's happening? What's going on? I hear screaming. What's going on?"
It's so dark. What's happening?
I'll be late for work. I hate the tube. I wish they'd focus on levels of service. I have to file that report by 10, and I have not started it yet. Oh that screaming. What's going on?
They are evacuating us. This is interesting, I've never walked up a tube tunnel. What's happening? Hey my phone has night video mode, it may be easier to walk up this dark tunnel if I use the phone to help.
Oh my god. That's awful. I can't look at that.
This may have been a bomb. What's happening. So many screams.
I wish I knew first aid, but I just want to get out...
I hope Anthea at work's OK. She uses this train.
At last we are at the platform. There's some terribly injured people here.
I must call my mum.
Excuse me mr fireman, what's going on?
Somebody, please tell me, what's going on?
I wasn't part of this. But I imagine there's all sorts of reasons someone may choose to film events, not least just in order to try to help make sense of what is happening by taking some action, any action. The alternative would be collapse.
It's also worth bearing in mind that the Kings X, Aldwych and Russell Square stations are regular commuter routes for a lot of journalists and media types, and the footage may well have been captured by someone from the media in some way on their way to work. The sort of people whose first impulse would be to capture the story.
I don't think we should castigate whoever took the movie, as we are not in possession of the facts, and at the time the movie was made, neither was the filmmaker. No one then knew what was really taking place. No one really knew what to do.
I do think the discussion in this thread highlights some action we should take, and that I now intend to. We are all motivated to help people in crisis, at least everyone in here seems to be. How many of us have first aid training?
If anyone on here works for the emergency services, please could they let us know a good, reputable first aid course we could all go on, so that we can actually help people if we ever encounter a crisis?
I want to be able to help people, rather than panic. And I know right now that my first instinct in such a situation would be fear. I don't believe it would be to grab movie footage, but can understand that for some folk that would be a reaction.
First Aid training advice please.
