I tried out Spotify at that time (6/7 years ago), but found it didn't really suit my needs then. First, I then needed to listen to it on the PC, on PC speakers. And that was awkward for me. Secondly, I was only really using it to listen to albums before buying them, but quite often what I wanted to hear wasn't on it. And being as I wasn't using it daily or even weekly, I didn't want to fork out for the paid version, so it wouldn't play me exact tracks.
I generally access music by putting on a physical album and listening to it from start to finish. So I just stopped using streaming for many years.
However, during my recent hospital stay my daughter suggested I put it on my phone. And I found I actually quite enjoyed listening to curated content. I.e. Other people's playlists. And now that I have the technology to Bluetooth the stream to a decent speaker system (which I didn't 6 years ago), I sometimes listen in my kitchen.
It's still often rubbish for finding specific jazz recordings (or classical for that matter). Finding the right session recording of a particular track is haphazard to say the least (in the free version anyway).
I tried out the birthday playlist function but it was crap. It just listed some jazz and funk tracks I'd been listening to and added in songs I hate, like Toto In Africa. Utter drivel.
I've also discovered an app called AccuRadio which so far seem less tone deaf, and has far fewer (and much shorter) interruptions. (Some playlists for that app
AccuJazz.com - The future of jazz radio ).
So, where's all the good Spotify playlists?
