I love them all loads, but Do Nothing is one of my best tracks ever also one of the first 7" I ever bought myself (it was the first...just along with 4 others - I'd saved up see :D ).

Best non-angsty angst song ever - and it's got their version of 'Maggie's Farm' on the b-side too.

We passed Terry Hall in Upper Street 3 or 4 years ago....I shoved heo hard in the side and mouthed 'Look! It's Terry Hall! ' and he saw me and I was quite fucking mortified that I hadn't been mouthing something more original, ffs. :D

He had a light grass green courdroy jacket with elbow patches on.

I heart The Specials
I went for Gangsters as it was the blueprint for what was to come and still sends shivers.
Ghost Town is a classic sign of the tunes tune, as is Do Nothing to a lesser extent.
Why are a few b-sides listed as singles?

Bernie Rhodes knows, don't argue! Has to be Gangsters for me. OK, so it was hardly original, being a rehash of Al Capone, but it kick-started the whole 2 Tone movement - the dawning of a new era, if you like!

Ive not included any of the Specials AKA singles so I could squeeze all the Specials singles in.-and its not in any way the definitive list!

Not strictly true. Gangsters was released under the name of The Special AKA.

nite club - it sums up the very experience of sticky floored provincial clubs far better than anything else...

And it has very excellent bass playing

One of my all time favourite bands.

I went for gangsters - mainly becasue it seems to sum up everything that 2-tone was about; an alchemy of 60s ska, punk edge and late 70s social crisis which created something new and vital.

On another day I might have gone for Ghost Town - probably the finest example of pop music as instant social commentary and protest; all the fear and anger and despair of the summer of riots condensed into a fantastic 3 minute pop song.

IME The Specials legacy and music gets more impresive as the years go on.

So true from kaka tim about how it gets more impressive with the passing of the years.

The other day listening to more specials i was thinking what mainstream british pop band is doing stuff like this now? Fucking nobody :(

Too Much Too Choose.

All they're frickin songs are great, I wouldn't want to choose one over another.
