Oh Smithsophiles always say "oh they're so funny" :rolleyes: They're tawdry and sound like a wet Monday morning in Manchester.


I fucking hate the Smiths. So there.
 
They were uniquely English, which very few similar bands can really, when covering their whole aesthetic, claim to be. More importantly, it's not some idyllic vision of England either, more brick, rain, bus stops and grey skies than anything else.

I don't listen to them at all, but they were a truly great band.
 
I'm sick of this debate, keeps croping up here now and again. Simple answer is no, some of their music can be described as "depressing" but they've also got shit loads of uplifting music that always puts a smile on my face. Smiths are class. :)

not fucking depressing at all. Get a grip. Life can be depressing, music like The Smiths brings you above the rancid detritus the world so readilly has to offer.
 
They kept millions of us sane and smiling grimly throughout the long dark night of the 80s.
