The sixties and seventies

But which was best, the Sixties of the Seventies?

Sixties:
Beatles, Stones, Who, Beach Boys, Byrds, Supremes, James Brown, Pink Floyd, Love, Otis Redding, etc, etc, all at their height. There was a purity of talent and intent in the Sixties that's hard to beat.

Seventies
New York Dolls, Kraftwerk, punk on both sides of the Atlantic, Chic, Abba, Black Sabbath, Led Zep, Bowie, Stooges, lots of exciting, diverse music as musicians began to push things forward - but also a lot of self indulgent, beardy rubbish, and music being taken in the wrong direction by quite a few people (see post-crossover soul, for example).

So which is best?

Led Zep and Black Sabbath...

'nuff said.

check ozzy before he spent did an elvis (before Elvis).

black sabbath's debut came out in feb 1970.

but yes, the first led zep album was jan 1969, and space oddity was 1969. but bowie certainly did his best work in the seventies.

The late 60's, early 70's were the best times in my opininon. Purely from a musical standpoint. The number of breathtaking, groundbreaking albums released is unbeliavable. I would give anything to have lived in that time.

all true.

I like 69-74 best.

As for personalities, John Lydon was always good for a quote.

Chislehurst caves. David Bowie, Status Quo, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Led zeppelin all played there in the 60s.
