:)

Did they play 'The Flower of Scotland' on the PA as everyone was walking out?

I may have cried a little that night.

My Father My King is what I want played at my funeral.
I only listen to it every now and again and I have to be laying on the floor with my head in the speaker, writhing about in ecstasy :o

Sorry, didn't mean to turn your SBE thread in to a Mogwai appreciation thread ;)

they were always bound to work with Steve Albini, and I'm so glad it was on that.

The floor appears to slope down from the stage so the view is awful if you're not:
(a) right by the front
(b) 6ft tall.

It gets way too packed. It's a pain in the arse to get to the bar and you have to piss off everyone on the way back.
You can't stand on the stairs (your only hope of a view if you get there late).
Zero atmosphere.

Pretty much sums up my view on the matter. Brixton Academy is much better.

the best sound I ever heard at the Academy was - inevitably - Mogwai. THey spent money and time getting a PA that worked with the venue and you could tell. Fucking awesome.

The only disappointment at the Academy is bands who kinda depend on noise, because the sound can be poor. So Ministry and Revolting Cocks were both a bit shit

Last week Gang Gang Dance and Animal Collective sounds pretty fucking awesome*

*i was slightly tired and emotional

shitty sound in shep bush empire for most rock or big bands
small boutique acoustic acts fare better
I went with my sis to see Bic Runga,
It wasn't busy just lots of well behaved fresh faced australian gym bunny girls who never drink or smoke.
The sound for that was great

To be fair to SBE I saw The Black Crowes there and they ripped it. felt like being in a tiny venue (ie good).

I used to have to review a lot of shows up there so spent most time on the first circle or whatever its is called. Has anyone sat in the third tier?/ Real nosebleed vertigo stuff...and crap sound.
