The Shape of the Premiership

I'm still very much want Spurs to bid for NRC, thoguh the signs are less hopeful than I'd have imagined. We're beyond desperate in defensive midfield.

As for 4th place, a lot prob depends on how Arsenal and Spurs do in the Cups, and espeically the stage at which the Goons exit the Champions League - if it's the Group Stage, I doubt Spurs will finish above them. The longer they stay in, the better our chances - on going participation in the domestic cups also matters.

unfortunately that will probably be tottenham :(

maybe newcastle can throw off their "underachievers" tag? Allardyce seems to have got them together already...
He's saying all the right things at the moment and actually appears to be trying to sign players in the transfer window rather than having them suggested to him by the press. we'll see what happens nearer the time though.

maybe £12m:mad:

Is that for the full ownership or half. Pompey were fucked around by Zahivi on the deal, that's how your mob ended up with him. The money they quoted us was £6 million initially, then they said it'd be the other £6 million for the half owned by his agent.

Dodgepot stuff that. Great talent though.

hmmm... fernandes was the person that sprang to mind when people started banging on about third party ownership....

who owns him exactly?

Who was the guy who scored about 5 stonkers for you when you escaped relegation the season before last? Was that fernandez or d'alessandro? Always get those two mixed up...

Yeah, and apparently, at various stages in recent prem history, other players have been owned by third parties, including kewell. So why was no fuss kicked up then? Anyway, that's over and done with, unless sean bean revives the spirit of boromir and besieges parliament or something.

third party ownership wasn't the problem, it was the bit about them being able to be moved on without our approval.

apparently the planned coaches from sheffield to support "justice" have had to be cancelled. I think they thought there might be some trouble.

still, sean can present his grievance to parliament if he really wants.

Is nobody else going to put their money where their mouth is and actually predict the final table?

1/2: Manchelsea United
3/4: Arselpool

5-20 practically any combination you care to name, it won't make any difference

Most exciting league in the world

How hilarious that people get excited that a new team - well Spurs - MAY finish fourth. Ooohh I cant wait for August. :D

well... I think the shape of the premiership will change over the next few years... there are a few teams who may make an impression on the monopoly at the top...

that's good, isn't it?

is that happening in spain? or italy? or scotland? or germany?

all leagues have big clubs that monopolise them, it's not just the premier league.

the fact that a team that finished outside the top 4 in spain last year could still win the league this year suggests that yes it is happening in Spain. Much more so than in England.
AUPA SEVILLA!

AUPA SEVILLA!

barcelona and madrid at the top though.

in the past 20 years 5 different clubs have won la liga....

in the same period 7 different teams have won the premier league or old division 1.

anyway - we're not having this argument again, it's been done before... :)

OK. I thought his move to viller was more or less finalised. Are many spurs fans hopeful of you getting him?
There are plenty of Spurs fan who didn't and still don't 'get' Michael Carrick, and he's a friggin genius at what he does - an opinion I share with SAF (among others), fwiw.

Thoughts on NRC are mixed but, like many of your lot, those views are (presumably) based on last season, not on the man or the potential.

views on NRC at west ham aren't really "mixed" as such. Some people just hate him, some people hate him but think he could be a good player if he sorted himself out.

I can see the potential.

I'm not sure about "the man", what do you mean by that?

In Italy, yes. Scotland even more so. Spain less so and likewise in Germany.

I suspect he's old skool - a (potential) leader in search of a cause, or at least the manager's voice or enforcer on the park. Spurs haven't had one of those in a very long time - a lot of arm windmilling stuff, but not proper leadership.

Not a lot of it about, either.

Give him a casue again and he'll run through walls for 90 mins., imo.
