The September London Walk

That's near me, that is !

Can I mention as a possible destination the two excellent pubs in Downe Village (about 3-4 miles from Hayes Station) - but more interestingly even than those, this old gaff. There are maps on that page if you scroll down.

There are occasional busses that go from Downe Village back to Bromley South train station (17 mins. Victoria), so the issue of how to get back to urbanisation isn't too tricky.

Just fort i's mention it, like. I telling you all what you already know, arent I ?
Hi, London Calling. Yes, I did know all this but the others don't. Am finishing in the Queen's Head which does good food, so will be eating there if anyone wants to join me.

I suspect that Charles Darwin's House will be shut (or about to shut) by the time we get there.

will seriously try to make this, however my finances are in a terrifyingly bad state at present.. will keep you informed. i really want to come..:(

A walk costs nothing :) (The travel card just a bit) ;)

I'm definitely coming to this. :) I'm a bit confused about the travelcard thing though -- will a travelcard take you all the way to Hayes and back from Bromley South?

I believe Hayes, Kent is Zone 6, Bromley South is Zone 4 - the only issue would seem to be the bus journey from the end of the walk back to Bromley South. There's a timetable and phone number here for the bus company. Good luck.

Maggot - I did worry I was treading on toes when mentioning you-know-who . . . very sorry indeed if that was the case !

p.s. I'll shut up now.

Yes, you got it LC. No worries.

A 1-6 zone travelcard costs £6 and will cover all the trains and buses you need. If you're not travelling through Zone 1, you can get a 2-6 zone travelcard for £4.

this clashes with the anti war demo - and i know which i'll be on
Seeing as you've never been on a London Walk, it's not really that surprising that you're not coming on this one.

Well thats aload of cobblers innit.. what's the point in going on some anti-war demo. Complete waste of time.

this clashes with my plans to lie on in bed/ hang around doing fuck all in Wood Green - I'll know which i'll be doing.

i can no longer make this.
plenty of reasons though.. blisters on my feet. last night i was close to calling an ambulance, the pain was so bad!
very little money, so wouldn't be able to afford all the pub stops.. no fun!
have only written 6500 out of 12000 words & the deadline is just over a week away.
i also have a mates birthday to either attend or miss, prior to a reasonably early arrival at maggots birthday do.
have fun y'all though & i will certainly attend the october one!
