The Saw movies Y/N?

I'll watch any old shite if it's got spaceships or aliens in it, but Saw films are without any redeeming features and are actually an insult to my intelligence:p

But they aren't intelligent or moralising, they are just a bit twisted and skin crawly. Only the first one intellectualises anything the rest are just people have to do some sick shit to survive yay lets watch.

My intelligence wasn't insulted I didn't even consider turning it on for 2/3! Was too busy watching syringes going into people and watching them burn and shiz.

Only seen the first one. Have to say I think it was probably the most appallingly bad films I have ever seen in my entire life. The acting was so bad I laughed out loud on several occasions. Watching this film put me off even wasting a few hours of my precious time on the rest of the series.

I think the term "torture porn" refers to a type of horror film that features unnecessarily grim and gratuitous violence, seeming to relish in close ups of people suffering relentlessly.
1 and 2 have people suffering psychologically in spades, but it keeps the gore in the shadows. That doesn't qualify it as torture porn.

we watched saw 2 last night and i thought it was shite. the bad acting and cheesy dialogue was laughable enough - but it was the pretentious pop psychology/6th form philosophy wank towards the end that had me switching off...
ETA: i haven't seen the first one. apparently that is better?

Awful nasty films, except for the first. Just got more twisted and violent. Have no time for these films or for anything like Hostel either. Sick yukky nasty garbage.

Went to see no. 6 last night. I was really looking forward to it and it stunk. It had none of the class of three or four, which looked great and flowed beautifully if you watched them back to back. It was all over the place with flashbacks and games that made no sense. And since Hoffman isn't an even remotely sympathetic villain it just feels like a goofy slasher film. I love 1-4 but this franchise is getting harder and harder to defend with each weak sequal. Boo.

Much more promising were the trailers. Harry Brown - Michael Caine as a badass vigilante, and Law Abiding Citizen - Gerard Butler as... a badass vigilante. The latter film hints at Saw-style conspiracies, traps etc and looks like very silly OTT fun.

This.

But if it floats your boat and it's not harming anyone....

Though even the BBFC said on their website that this was pushing it a bit.

But there must be a market for it to get up to six.
