Nothing about Tim Curry in a basque is crap. :D
:o Seconded. Or more likely fourthed now :D HIM, in that film, had a significant effect on my sexual tastes - I'd never seen a man in sexy underwear before :D

Not crap at all. And Susan Sarandon looks well fit in it.
Susan Sarandon looks well fit in everything. That woman would look like sex on legs in a bin bag on the set of Albion Market for gods sake! ;)

I feel reassured that there are others who hate this film as well and I used to look on in utter bewliderment when I saw people raving about this.

This film is the cinematic equivalent of having your eyes gouged out with red hot knitting needles and then having sulphuric acid poured into the holes.

Actually ..Juice Terry has already articulated the abomination that is this film better than I ever could

It having the word 'horror' in its name is entirely appropriate.

The Rocky Horror Show is a bit like The Doors or something - it's probably a good thing to like when you're a kid and it's your first exposure to such things.

But later, surely it's just utter toilet?

And like the Doors, you hold it in eternal respect and admiration. Even though you know it was a bit wank - but that is only your present taste influencing your memories :)

i kind of agree with the first part of this sentiment.

i adored it when i was 14 - it... corrupted me - or fanned the already smouldering flames at any rate. very, very influential.

we used to go round each other's houses when our parents were out, watching it and drinking vodka - saying all the words and responses...

but.

then i got kinkier than the really very tame stuff going on in the film - and it just didn't "thrill me, chill me, fulfil me", any more.

But i don't think it's utter toilet. i'd probably watch it quite happily now, for novelty value. It must've been well over 10 years since i did.

Count me in. Scrappy Doo was an annoying twat.

I'm another Rocky Horror fan! LOVE it. It's just F U N.
Oh and Tim Curry? Well....quite why I fancy the panties off a guy in heels and stockings and a basque and make up I don't know...til I watch the film again and .....fuknell...."toucha toucha toucha touchhhhhh meeeeeeeeee I wanna be diiiiiirttttttyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"

I thought it was shit when I was younger though. So ner.

Actually I only voted crap to try to be as cool as Hollis.:p
But I did say denounces it. So ner yaself :p

It's not nearly as good as Spaced:

Mike: Wanna go into your party?
Tim: But they were playing 'The Timewarp'. I hate 'The Timewarp'.
Mike: Daisy likes it.
Tim: So what? I hate it. It's boil-in-the-bag perversion for sexually repressed accountants and first-year drama students with too many posters of Betty Blue, The Blues Brothers, Big Blue and Blue Velvet on their blue bloody walls.

you just said it was toilet, you didn't give an explanation.

Ok, it's pretty much as milesy described it really - try-hard wackiness, student twattery, vanilla-kinky.

It's not funny, it's certainly not sexy, the songs are mostly pretty poor, it's the worst kind of camp that moves from being camp into pure hysteria, which isn't  , the film never escapes its theatrical origins (one of my pet hates, i guess) and it's just a royal pain in the arse.

People who used to like Rocky Horror Show often go on to like Scissor Sisters(no offence, spangles.. ;) )

"i asked you
if you'd like to
go and see the Rocky Horror Picture Show
You said you would
So I murdered your family
Cos I hate the Rocky Horror Picture Show
I'd rather go browsing round hardware shops"

none taken, lovely.

they're both very theatrical and open and fun - lacking in attitude and arrogance - i can see the link.

but yes, i have grown out of it - that's not a denouncement, though. i don't think it's shit.

slight derail, sorry

the thing about the Scissor Sisters is that i think they're brilliant people based on what i've seen read - intelligent, witty, political, passionate.

but then they go and make records that sound like Supertramp :(
