The Restaurant Series 2

Airline crew is out, I think they realised running a restaurant wasn't like they imaged it to be.
Well, calling your gaff "Sorbet and Seasons" but not serving sorbet, did help. Even the week after they were warned to.

And then, on their free chance, gave away sorbet samples, to attract customers to ...a menu devoid of sorbet...?

Bizarre.

I'm guessing they just had a bet with their mates to get the word sorbet in as many episodes as possible.

Don't tell me. It's some gay euphemism, isn't it? :D

They were so lackluster, no energy and lazy and uninspired.
Made them annoying to watch. TWENTY chickens.

I cant watch the girl from the dad and daughter combo. She barely opens her mouth to speak and I want to shake some excitement into her.

They are all dreadful this year. I wouldn't trust any of them to run a top quality restaurant.

Agreed, they're an absolute shower. By the time you get to the final of Masterchef or summat the remaining contestants are seriously good. This lot just stumble form one disaster to the next and, from the preview, next week's final looks no exception.

The boys are the funniest. But as the Woman Inspector once said "If there's a decision to be made, they'll make the wrong one", so I really don't think they'll win. Not that I want the Happy Souls to win. Happy? Fucken hell, she's a killer on a time switch, and he's sullen half the time. But although they risked giving scallops to Jews, at least they would have spelled them right on the menu, had they bothered putting them on! :D

I think Raymond stopped taking it seriously weeks ago.
He just sits there amused when making his comments / decisions and quite plainly doesn't really care.

Its been an amusing if cringey second series. Casting has clearly been about characters and not about the most promising restauranteurs.

Alistair and James are proper funny! Their development was arrested at age 14. The dinner party episode had me in stitches.

The slightly slow/ half witted couple who kept talking about 'Sir Walter Reilly' gave me the MOST jokes of any show this year.

A fact i hate to be honest. Just turns it into another big brother than a genuine competition based on skills.

Yet i still keep watching :o

none of them would do a very good restaurant...silent pyscho man can cook quite well, ditto the bloke with the hiding/scared fool as his accomplice but both are reasonable cooks only - the other two front of house types are shite

I'm glad the man with the unfeasibly large ears got cobbed out though as the size of his ears was quite alarming...

He looked like he'd tried to clip his ears with garden shears. I trust their one year old will grow up hating them for abandoning him on national TV.

I agree, but I prefer it to the Apprentice, probably because the characters are less obnoxious.

The contestants are put under real, sustained pressure, the smallest errors and character flaws are shown up. I cringe, but I do feel for them so much.

Raymond is 100% more thoughtful and insightful than Alan Sugar- there is a real sense that he sees through the bullshit.

Tbh the final test on the Orient Express is unworthy to be the final. Its gimmicky.

Nooooo! Annoying woman won.

How come we didn't see the boys close their restaurant, did they have a hissy fit?

Hmm i think wrong decision was made. He picked someone who can safe food. We are no wiser as to whether he can elevate his skills any more than the boys could.

If i had to pick which restaurant i wanted to experience i think i'd have to pick the boys for novelty value. They are characters.

The other couple are bland and easily forgettable.

For the second year running he has chosen the wrong couple! The boys are maddening, but they are easily the more creative twosome.

Ali came on SO much during the season and I loved seeing them on screen. Gutted for them- why didnt we see their reaction to the news rather than just the smug marrieds?

I suppose they would have made him more money with their arty thingy on the side ...but oh well
