There's no need for moral certainty, just the ability to understand history.

Elements of the right may be in the political wilderness, but it doesn't really present them with an ideological problem as they're not collectivists. Besides, this-or-that being as much of the right as it is of the left is hardly an excuse for whatever you think is "wrong". To be honest, most of what lefties interpret as criticism or insult is actually a matter of quite innocuous observation.

No need to be like that. What are you trying to defend? What's the connection between an understanding of history and dishonesty, which is really a matter of honour or morality? Indeed, an "understanding of history" can only be measured by the advantage such an understanding accrues. So unless they enjoy being in the wilderness, it’s the left’s understanding which is in question.
