Why does she still have that power, if she did use it would be taken away.How dire would the situation need to be for it to come about.the politician must know she could never use it that's why they don't even mention it

As a check on the Prime Minister. If he or she ever stepped beyond the constitution, the Queen could refuse to dissolve Parliament. Last chance saloon, and not an issue that'll rise in the normal course of things.

The Parliament Acts and Bill of Rights guarantee regular parliaments, so the Queen's dissolving power is hardly a dictator's charter.
