"Old ladies sitting on thrones wearing ancient pieces of ornate jewellery is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not some farcical feudal ceremony. Just because some elderly cleric places some precious metal shaped in a circular fashion around my head does not give me the right to form and dissolve governments. If I went around claiming that, they’d put me away!"

Comrade Rhyus

Help i'm being repressed! :p

The only reason to keep the monachry is the complete fuck up dissolution would be. Somehow consultants would get billions of pounds of taxpayers money half the crown jewels would go missing and buckingham palace would burn down.

I see what you've done there...if, as a "leftie" I want rid of the anachronistic parasites, I have to throw my lot in with the nasty suits who'll make mega£ bonuses if we so much as imagine a country without hereditary halfwit heads of state.

Yeah, right on comrade; god save the king!

No I'm just cynical. That any change would have little practical benefit. Think the monarchy is just a bizarre fate for those born into it. Its far too popular that getting rid is worth worrying about imho
