He's not a top cleric - the secular society's report is misleading. He's a outspoken, backwards-thinking country-bumpkin who assisted in the unlawful (according to Islamic law) murder of his own son, and whose opinion can be thoroughly argued against according to the laws enshrined within Islam.

According to Islamic law, only G0D has the right to take a life. That should go some way to explaining to him why these women and their husbands are still alive.

All religions have their fraggly minority. And sometimes when they gain power they abuse people with it. Christianity was a bit like that in some parts 3-400 years ago. I don't think I would have wanted to live under the reignof Ferdinand and Isabella any more than one run by the mullahs.

Not all Catholics perpetrated the Shoah but the Vatican did turn a blind eye to what was going on. However I do take your point that Christians killing those of other faiths didn't end with the enlightenment.

I saw the motley collection of religious loons at Pride this year. Also the NF were there on their own (about 5 people) and they were corralled in a separate bit from the religious loons as not even the religious loons dont' seem to want to be associated with the NF

Iranian clerical fanatic says unveiled women should die

A top Muslim cleric in Iran, Hojatolislam Gholam Reza Hassani said on Wednesday that women in the country who do not wear the hijab should be killed.

"Women who do not respect the hijab and their husbands deserve to die," said Hassani, who leads Friday prayers in the city of Urumieh, in Iranian Azerbaijan. "I do not understand how these women who do not respect the hijab, 28 years after the birth of the Islamic Republic, are still alive," he said.

"These women and their husbands and their fathers must die," said Hassani, who is the representative of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in eastern Azerbaijan.

Hassani's statements came after two Kurdish feminists in Iran were accused of being members of an armed rebel group and of carrying out subversive activities threatening the security of the state. It is believed that his statements and the arrests could spark a fresh crackdown on women who do not abide by the Islamic dress code in Iran. Thousands of women in Iran have already been beaten this year for their "un-Islamic dress" such as wearing tight, short coats and skimpy headscarves.​

It seems a bit harsh, but I think it's fair enough really. It's not picking on women. The cleric has explained that the husbands and fathers should also be killed for not keeping their women properly veiled.

Any objections?

JHE, thanks for bringing this outrage to our attention. I, like many here I'm sure, was previously unaware of the beastliness of Muslims and of Iranians in particular. I'd like to join you in your crusade and if possible contribute in some way to killing them.
