Zywiec or Tyskie. I had some cans of Lech a while ago and they made me feel pretty crap the next day so I'll stick with the less pronounceable stuff. :D

bought Tyskie and Zyweic a few times, one shop does 6 for £6 and you can have a mix, couldn't decide which for a while but reckon Tyskie, £1.39 in my local shop :hmm:

my dad chirped up 'Tyskie', the new stella, when he saw me
observant git that he is

Herbsman what do you mean this this thread is rubbish without a Pole, there's a whole list of options at the top, you can click any one, boss

(gets coat, runs)

IDIOT

:D In a shop near my house there is zwyiec, tyskie, lech and another polish beer, and all the cans of polish beer are £1 each. so i have bought 4 tyskie and will thus have a hangover tomorrow morning. yay!

btw i prefer real ale but it's too thick for this weather. and cider jsut makes me sick, it reminds me of the smell of my shit after drinking too much cider - like a mix of rotten apples and runny babyshite

this thread is useless without a Pole

here you are

I'm sure there are some good Polish beers available back in Poland, but, without exception, every single Polish beer that's widely available in England is piss.

Our local "offy" is just a Tesco express and they only sell Tyskie. I'd absolutely love an offy that sells cans of Zywiec tho!

Zywiec and Tyskie are amongst Poland's best selling beers, and are imported from Poland.

Carling is amongst England's best selling beers if not THE best selling beer in England. Does that mean it's good?

Good is subjective. No doubt you are the kind of person who hates anything "popular". In fact, judging by your posts, you appear to hate everything.

I appear to hate everything? Absolute bollocks. :D try and make statements that you can back up.

Let's stay on topic though. You made it sound like Tyskie and Zywiec are good because they're the best selling in Poland and are important. I disagree with that statement. That doesn't mean I hate anything popular, it just means I disagee that something is good just because it's popular.

Lech is the best mass produced lager in the world imo. It has a stronger than usual hops flavour therefore tastes more like a pilsener than a lager but doesn't have the bitterness of real pilsener. Ideally proportioned and complete taste imo.

Zywiec is good and when it is at correct temp the head is sublime.

Tyskie is watery and sour (similar to uk lagers - maybe that's why it leads the poll).

Okocim comes in two varieties - green lager and blackish strong lager. The latter is a classic '4 pints and you're pissed' beer.

:)

I thought I was a beer snob. At the risk of derailing my own thread, what is your idea of a good lager from the averaged English offy?

I'd say:
Budvar, Staropramen - great but overpriced
Becks - nice if a little bit bland
Kronenburg - ok
Peroni, Asahi, Red Stripe - bland and inoffensive
Stella - functional if a bit chemically out of the can
Carlsberk Special Tennants Super etc. - very functional
Carling, Carlsberg, Fosters, Budwiser, Brahama - Bland to the point of being offensive. I'd reserve the description 'piss' for this set.

I forgot about this thread. I don't really like lager that much, I'd agree with your assessment above. I quite like Cobra, but that's not really very lagery.
