The Perks Of Your Job

Kanda said:
Not having to really do anything day to day. I spend most of my time watching downloaded films/tv shows. No appraisals or assesments. No one really to report to. I only have to actually do anything when things break (Not often). Xmas and Summer bonuses are the main perk and what keeps most here.

Man, I'd kill for your job. I could write my book.

7 weeks paid holiday
pension
free lunch and breakfast
free beers on a friday
dinners out
plenty of global travel
amazingly good looking colleagues
free gym
free massage
excellent training

off the top of my head like.

Free gym membership - it's only City Uni's gym, but that's good enough for me, and I take advantage of it.

Good about working from home - the first place I worked they just didn't let you, the last place the decision had to go to a committee or something, here, if I have a workman coming over/something being delivered, I can just ask my boss by the day before and they trust me to do it. Makes life so much more manageable.

Also, they do invest in their employees. And the parties/socials are good. :)

Only 2.2 miles from home
Boss has moved to Cardiff
Good bonuses (dependent on profit though)
Left to work on my own with no interference most of the time

I just got a free chocolate chip cookie :)

But it's given me a sugar rush and now I feel sick :(

ERm..

-some of the most interesting work I've done in my career
-has some fairly general social benefit
-pretty easy going
-generally nice people and a few good friends

On the down-side financial perks are being whittled away somewhat, and I'm slightly concerned my job is under threat, as our team are not bringing in the £ :(

13 weeks holiday a year
If I wanted to I could be out the door at 2:45 on fridays
Feel like I'm making a difference, not just making shareholders richer

wish i worked at google.
they got free breakfast lunch dinner
free laundry, dry clean
free snacks, drinks
gym
bicycle
etc...

1. Only 1/2 day on friday and leave early weds. (I only work until 4pm anyway)
2. Amazing gym and pool facilities, jacuzzi and sauna, all free.
3. The great satisfaction of making people fit and well.
4. Really lovely people to work with (including one who keeps my mug filled with tea)
5. Excellent commitment to training
6. Lots of fit semi naked men to get my hands on :D .

As well as seriously shite pay I get:

  • Final Salary Pension
  • Internet at Lunchtime (but can be sacked for using improperly and at other times)
  • All the pens I can eat - They follow me home whether I want them to or not
  • A day off for the Queen's birthday
  • The occasional invite to official functions which i'd rather not go to
  • A free diary
  • Flexitime - I couldn't live without this
  • Time off for vollunteering (5 days a year), funerals (close rellies), doctor, dentist.

1. I only work mornings (I only get paid for working mornings, though...)
2. I chose to work mornings. They are very flexible as long as I do 4 hours a day. I could work whenever I wanted.
3. My colleagues are mostly very cool. They are all chartered surveyors so have been excellent with advice about house-buying.
4. Tiddler has only been poorly twice in the last couple of years but both times they were fine about letting me go home early.
5. My big boss works remotely so I just tell him I want something - laminator, answerphone, huge fuck-off scanner/printer/copier and he sends it ("It's very important it's top of the range. I need it to do everything. Send it asap!" )
6. I could do any training I wanted if I could find childcare.
7. People sometimes buy me cakes or flowers if they need me to do something.

I get immense amounts of annual leave that i can now organise as I want

free lunch (although have to eat it with v small children who often throw theirs up)

I get to run around outside a lot

and get lots of hugs from 2 year olds:)

I get:

- Free TV (all 20 bajillion channels) and broadband at home.
- Gym for a fiver a month
- Get paid to watch WWE wrestling every Monday (whether this a perk or not depends on your POV).
- I get 3 days in the studio, 2 in the office - breaks up the week.
- I have a nice boss

I like my job :)

I think the only perk of my job really is the people I work with. We all get on really well and laugh together and cry together. Plus on birthdays we get a cake with candles on and sing happy birthday. Two birthdays in the office last week = lots of cake :)

I get:

Tax-free sandwiches to a limited and variable extent.
Non-gaming internets.
All the tea I can drink.
Random fruit.
A bug that tracks my movements and informs the internet.
Occasional dangerous quantities of booze.

Yep. I work in the sign language studio and we sign the wrestling every Monday (and a bunch of other stuff). I also get paid to watch films, which are mostly dreaful but occasionally I get to pick a good one. We did The Usual Suspects on Friday.

Free Pret lunch most days
Flexitime
Intermaweb all day long
Insanely tiny workload (=more dem internets)
Gorgeous colleague
My own office

Only problem: it's right in the middle of Westminster so there aren't many shops to get stuff in my lunch break

I get paid to go shopping. If I go to a trade show (which I pay for), say in Milan, I can usually recoup the money by selling a show and retail report to a client, which involves going around with a camera, round all the shops and photgraphing and sketching everything I see.
I can work from anywhere, don't need much more than a laptop, printer, scanner, camera, sketchbook, pens and phone. So if I like I can go to my mothers for a week or two and work from there.
I sometimes get free shoes, but this is not often enough.
If I go to a factory I take all my shoes to be resoled or repaired, they do a better job than Timpsons.
I've been all over the world for nothing. I'm very lucky, I know.
If there is a downsides thread posted I can then go on about the nightmare of unpaid invoices and hundred and ten hour weeks, though. ;)

It's cash in hand so I'm shafting the taxman!

it's only part time!

I can get stoned before work and the boss doesn't give a shit!

that is all

Ah, I'm with you now!

Signing the wrestling - also  Lots of facial expression needed there I guess!

Is it BSL? I learnt BSL many years ago (to CACDP Stage 1), but can't remember very much at all. About the only sign I haven't forgotten is, ironically, the sign for 'forgotten'. But I can still finger spell :)
