The Official Anderson Appreciation Thread

That's the modern game for you....one team hears another top team is in for a prospect, bidding war starts and before you know it you've spent £18m on what appears to be Darren Huckerby. He could come good but TBH he's going to need to play more games in order to become more consistent - if indeed he can be.

:D:D:D:D

About 18m wasn't it? Better value than one-pace Carrick, injury problem Hargreaves and Nani the Nonce perhaps, but still a lot of money for a headless chicken with a good motor.

Is Nani a nonce?

Missed that one.

As I recall Anderson, Nani and Hargreaves (remember him?) cost a combined £51 - 54 million.

Anderson had a good game at Anfield in the 07/08 season but a shocker there this season. He's basically been poor all season and this was highlighted last night. He and Mascherano played most of last summer and their form this season has been poor. Masch's form has picked up a bit in recent months but Anderson has remained shit.

Would agree as a United fan I remain to be convinced.

I think Carrick as had a good season, worth the money - no probably not but I can pull out a list over players who have been brought for way more than they are worth but at United and the other big English teams

Anderson I do think is a player of real qaulity but Ferguson, rightly or wrongly, is trying to add extra dimensions to his game, or mould him to fit into Uniteds formation. I am not sure it is working but Anderson is going to be a key player in our midfield going forward. Did he look poor last night - yes, was £18 too much to spend on an unproven young player - yes, does that mean he is a poor player - no. I am not sure I have seen him out in an £18m performance to be honest.

Nani...nothing to be said...his performances speak for themselves, not going ot defend that purchase.

I think anderson will be a lot better with hargreeves alongside him.

In fact i think every conceivable formation and starting lineup will be impoved if hargreeves ever gets back fit.

Man united need a genuine defensive midfielder. Preferably two.

I am not sure we need much, this year we have;

Won the premier league, won the charity shield, won the league cup, won the world club cup, champions league finalists, FA cup semi finalists.

In induivudal competitions otehr clubs have got close (I genuinely thought Liverpool would win the league this year) but across the competitions we have been streets ahead of every other English team. No radical overhaul is needed. I don't want us to go and throw more money at more players. If we lose ronaldo that will require some thought. Wouldn't mind us selling Berbatov and re-coup (half?) the money we spent on him but otherwise I don't think we are too badly off.

That world club thing is a joke though. I reckon most premiership teams would have won that.

Yes your right, point has been made elsewhere and also about league cup. My response was that I want us to win everything we play in. Other teams did not win the world club cup becuase they were not good enough to qaulify for it.

Of the two competitions we did not win this year we got to the final of one and semi final of the other...a record any other team in England would love to have.
