The Office: An American Workplace

I just watched the episode where Michael went to Pam's art exhibition and bought her painting before telling her how proud he was of her. Very underrated moment that one.
This was one tiny tiny moment that 'perhaps' justifies (in part) why his colleagues inexplicably call him a good boss, and a good friend when he has shown nothing but selfishness, ineptitude and probably mental illness.

I've just binged most of it. It's brilliant.

Googled how many emmys Steve Carrell won for it - none. Crazy. The series did (once), but never him. After nine seasons.

Forget season 1 to 3, the rest is brilliant. Loved it
You're missing out on loads of stuff in the first three seasons by skipping it. Diversity Day in episode two is great, and the start of Michael's relationship with Jan is crucial. Go back and watch the first three seasons again, they're some of the best, especially given it goes slightly off the boil in seasons 8 and 9.

That's slightly out of context. I'm hard to please and I can safely say the US version of the Office is one of the best comedy series I've ever seen. The borderline racism and homophobia throughout on the part of the boss is part of the joke. He's taking the piss out of racists really.

Maybe, but I tried and gave up several times watching it from the beginning over the years. It wasn't until I jumped in later that I managed to get through it. May go back and try the first two series one day.

Niche content, but here's a podcast episode where two union organizers discuss how they'd go about organizing at Dunder-Mifflin:
(warning, I think that link may have autoplay when you open it, so bear that in mind if you're in a Teams meeting or whatever). I'm getting close to the end of series 5, which I think'll be the point where I give up on it.

A whole W/Bob and David ep was removed because there was a blackface joke making fun of racists. . . . as if you couldn't see the point they were making. . . . .

It doesn't bode well for the future of comedy. I assume a lot of Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock's gags about geeky asshole white people will also be cancelled at some point

Easily one of the best comedy series of all time!

That bit where he chunders at the end of the "fun run" is easily one of my fav all time comedy moments!

There’s talk of it here:
