The NFL thread - 2010 edition

Quite an eventful week so far: Favre had one of his "moments" and threw a last-second TD pass to a Vikes victory, Cutler connected with Johnny Knox (who might well be the best receiver in the Bears at this point) again for a very important victory considering all the opposition in the NFC North won, and the Steelers had another shocking game against the Bengals, and even after messing a TD conversion, won by 3, the Steelers second consecutive defeat. Polamalu is really needed in that defense.

And when I said all teams in the NFC North won... yes, even the Lions. THE LIONS WON.

Go Bears!!!!!!

I simply cannot believe the Bengals beat the Steelers and the Lions won in the same weekend!

And a few surprises on the standings - Jets and Broncos are 3-0, while the Dolphins, Titans, Chiefs and the Buccaneers have lost all three games so far. Plus the Cardinals were beaten badly by the Colts yesterday - I wonder if we'll see both previous Superbowl contenders out of the post-season this time around.

Cowboys struggling against the Panthers now. And Delhomme just threw another pick. If I had to take a guess, I'd say he has a very severe case of colour-blindness.

To add to the abysmal start of the season, Dolphins' Pennington got another of his injuries, and is out for the season. Also, next Monday, the can't-lose match of the week - Favre hosts the Packers :D

Favre is picking up the Packers defense left and right. Aaron Rodgers is playing quite well so far... I doubt Favre could do better in his position.

The Bengals win a game - again - in the last five minutes, this time at Baltimore, aided by some absolutely mindless (Ray Lewis especially) penalties from the Ravens D during the game-winning drive.

Ray Lewis lead with the helmet was pure GBH:eek:

Giants keep rolling on 44-7!!

It was on Chad-85, and to see his lid ping across the field at phenomenal speed was very funny, but it was also very, very stupid in the circumstances.

The Giants do look very good, next week's matchup against the Saints looks the game of the year thus far.

The Broncos beat the Patriots, despite having the most atrocious equipment I've see all season (yes, I've seen the Seahawks lime-green choice). They're now 5-0, and the San Diego "This Is The Year" Chargers will be on a lot of pressure to beat them next week.

Meanwhile, the Colts aren't looking as amazing today. Still leading by two possessions, 'to.
Edit:

Actually, just one. 8 points.

Another edit:

Bloody hell, once things start going bad for the Titans, they just snowball.

The Giants have dropped the soap big time in the Superdome, its only just the start of the second quarter and the Saints already 20-3 up.

After the Giants were crushed by the Saints 48-27, New England are doing something absolutely terrible to the poor Titans - its halfway through the third quarter and the score is 52-0. Brady has six TDs.

It was so bad, ESPN America changed the broadcast to the Bills at Jets game. Which was another shocker. Sanchez apparently never played of practiced under 10º C - and threw five picks in result. After the Bills had another of their "Wide Right" episodes and forced the game to a overtime, the Jets had a quite bizarre fake FG attempt which resulted terribly, and then the Bills won with a FG.

What makes things worse: Sanchez was booed off a lot of times. With the Patriots (apparently) back at full strength, with the winter season coming up, I give it a few weeks before the NY press calls him a bust. Unless the Yankees win the World Series, and they're too chuffed to care about anything else :D

Also, if anyone ever questioned what was needed for a player to get ejected, two answers this week: headbutting a return man who called a fair catch, and punching an opponent without an helmet.
