The NFL thread - 2010 edition

Favre making the same kind of start with the Vikings that he did for the Jets last year... though Peterson is the absolute bollocks.

lol @ a successful TD run off a fake field goal attempt from Washington in the Giants - Redskins game.

Just before that play I was thinking they'd have to be stupid not to try on 4th down. What the Giants D (and to be honest, me :D) were not expecting was a fake FG run.

The Redskins looked well patchy, however, alternating really good plays with awful decisions (that already illegal forward pass that ended up as an interception being the best example.

The most unbelievable moment of the season has already taken place. Denver were 6-0 up with less than a minute to go, but the Bengals drove down the field and scored a TD making it 6-7, with about forty seconds left.

Denver's return guy then managed to fall on his arse after about a yard and the first play goes nowhere - so its huge yards, thirty-ish seconds left, and then this happens:

:eek::D

That play was mental.

Meanwhile, Urlacher must had his hand chopped off internally yesterday - dislocated wrist, out for the season. McNabb also got an helmet to his (unprotected) back, broke a few ribs and might miss a few games.

Buffalo at New England now. Brady looking very unsettled facing the blitz, and aleady thrown a few shockers, including a pick. On the Bills' side, T.O. is nowhere to be seen.

I predict a play off spot for Detroit this season. I'm going to put a tenner on it too.

Lol.

Seriously, the defence sucks big time - the DL especially. They're going to struggle all year to stop other teams moving the ball on the ground which is going to open the passing game up straight away. There was virtually no pass rush at all against NO - too scared to Brees to send anyone because it's all too fragile. Add two or three more injuries into the mix and there's no way they'll come close to a playoff spot imo.

I think they'll win more than last year, but it's not a playoff team at all just yet. This season is, imo, all about seasoning the offence and looking at the defence with a view to a total rebuild.

Do us both a favour. You keep a fiver and send a fiver to me - you'll be five quid better off at the end of the year that way :)

The Eagles get well and truly spanked by the Saints 48-22 in Philly.

Meanwhile the TO Show are 17-0 up at the end of the first quarter vs Tampa.

Meanwhile, Cutler made a quite solid game against the Steelers, and setup Gould for another of his match-winning field goals. Quite a surprising victory on a game decided on details, but as I'd expected, Polamalu's presence was more missed than Urlachers. Very important victory, as it helped offset the defeat last week a bit, as Packers lost at home against the Bengals (and I've just seen Ochocinco doing a Lambeau Leap :D).

Kind of disappointed with the Patriots. Brady isn't looking that confident at all, and their defense doesn't look half as good as in previous years.

Giants at Cowboys starts broadcasting in about 30. Let's see if Feagles aims a punt at the scoreboard just to piss off the Joneses :D

Only just found out the giants game is on channel five when i was searching the channels a few mins ago, wondered why sky didnt have the late game. :D

This has been a great game so far. That INT was great, shame it was whistled dead. Only to be superceded by an even better juggling catch for the TD.

Also, go Niners, 2-0. Hasselbeck, Tatupu and Locklear all injured for Seattle, meanwhile the Cards destroyed Jax, which is rare for a west coast team going east.

Heh, the size of the mammothron is ridiculous, but I must admit it looks amazing.

Quite a good game so far. That heel flip to interception will be a staple on Romo's greatest misses highlights.

Now Tynes failed a sitter, and it's still a 3 point game.

FG was good, but Dallas got a timout just before the snap. I doubt he manages to score it again,'to

Damnit missed it due to drunken sleep requirements, but loved the ESPN review of the game:

Now the Giants begin the puff-pastry portion of their schedule with sole possession of first place in the NFC East. Before kickoff, they watched former president and Dallas resident George W. Bush and his wife Laura conduct the coin toss. Moments earlier, the Cowboys had unveiled their blue and white star at midfield following a video that compared their new stadium to lesser-known venues, such as The Great Wall of China and the Parthenon.

:D
